In a world of black and white
There are many different colors
The gloomy grey of rainy skies
The hazy white of summers

And when you walk where wind is racing
Facing it with a smile
Because the grasp you have on earth is firm
You begin to wonder
What will happen
If you let go

You would fall
Wings torn asunder
Down to where the shadows are chasing
Themselves
And you would never fly
Because you decided
To try
Letting go

In a world of black and white
There are many different pathways
Some lead to deeper, blacker dark
Some to brilliant sun rays

And when you walk on solid stone
Holding on without fear
Because the rock has never moved before
You begin to wonder
If the sandy shore
Would be easier

But you would fall
Slipping toward thunder
Down to where the ocean crashes in
On itself
And you would never see the sky
Because you decided to try
Walking on the shore

In a world of black and white
There are many different choices
Each calling out to us
In many different voices.

And when you walk toward where you belong
A voice beckons you onward
Because you have almost reached your destination
You begin to wonder
What will happen
When you reach the home
Of all creation

The voice would call
A voice of wonder
Filling you with worlds of light
And peace
And there the birds would fly
And show
That because you didn't let go
You can join them, by and by

And there you stay forever
Glowing infinitely bright
Because you saw the colors
In a world of black and white

(Character in pic based off of Verda, a character in my story. ^_^ and just fyi, the spot patterns on her arms, legs, and face, were taken from an ocelot and...a...leopard..I think...and the spots on her wings were taken from a jaguar.)

woooooooow..... I love it I love it I love it!!!!

*puts fangirl-muse back in cupboard*

I really love how you did the feathers; they give a lot of motion to the piece and yay you for remembering to put spots on them!

And the poem is awesome; I'm assuming you wrote it since there's no other author stated. Reminds me of some of my own writing... The metaphors you used are good, quite unique for the most part, and even the more well-used ones such as crossroads were brought in with minimal cliche, which is very nice.

I can't wait to get to your Lothlorien section!

:-) Rachel A. *~*Wolf Eyes*~* McCausland replies: "*decides to try and follow comments in order* so this would be the first one, right? *hopes* okay...aw yay! *loves feathers* Yep, poem's mine. I do tend to do borderline cliche, sometimes...*sweatdrop* especially with my stories. But at least I can say that my poems are honest, so the reason it's cliche (if it is) is that I'm just one big cheesecake. *g*"

*giggles and grins back at you* Naww, you're no cheesecake. Yes, this is the first one I commented on, I just kept following the right hand link.

*loves feathers too* I collect feathers a bit, 'specially black ones, and I sometimes make jewelry from them.
