I've probably been reading and writing longer and in greater quantity than you have. (Don't forget I was homeschooled up till the end of grade 7 so I was reading quite a lot then.) I really like your writing, and you really shouldn't run yourself down. It's bad form to speak badly of a piece of writing I've not seen yet: I'm rather obliged to speak well of it after that.

In any case, the decision about which version of my work to read is entirely yours. The edited version will probably take a week or two since I edit very thoroughly, but for the same reason I can guarantee it will be of a much better quality.

Rachel McCausland replies: "Hmm yeah this is sorta my first really close-to-successful try at writing a full-length novel..all the other ones I've tried were really silly ideas and I never got past the first chapter. This one is also a little silly..but it's better than the other ones.

As for mine...I'm still trying to decide exactly what to use a as a teaser thing...my story doesn't really even have a main character..although it should be obvious to the reader who my favorite is..*laugh*

Okay Ellienad and Tarn! Just after I replied to that last comment, I found a kass-scene you might like. This is one of Kass's chances to be a hero! So Kass will like it too ^_^

From: Gifts, Chapter Twenty, "Promises"

He took a moment to look down. They had to be at least ten stories above ground. And then there was the problem of archers... Kass looked down at the pup, curled his arms around it, took a deep breath, and jumped.
At first he panicked, spreading his wings and flapping them wildly so that he ended up doing a few barrel rolls and back flips by accident. But then, the wind caught in his wings, like in the sails of ships, and he just glided. It was the most amazing feeling in the world.
By the time he had to flap his wings again, to stay on the current, the archers had spotted him. An arrow whizzed past his ear and he ended up tilting and panicking again, though he righted himself more quickly than last time. Three more arrows came his way. Laughing confidently, he swooped down on the startled archers, and then spiraled upward only to began a dive toward the “holy” grove at a dangerous angle. He crashed through the branches and tumbled to a halt in an explosion of dust and dried leaves.
He blinked up at the sky for a second, moving around a bit to see if he had any broken bones. He grinned and giggled a little strangely, then sat up and looked at the pup in his arms. Miraculously, both of them were unhurt...well, Kass would definitely have bruises, but...the pup appeared completely unharmed. He sighed in relief, then stared as it opened it’s eyes and made a faint noise.
“Kass!” Jerolin gasped as he and the rest of the party ran up to them. “Why...what in all Ilae?”
Kass laughed at their startled looks. As he stood, he nodded down at the black pup.
“This here’s the only son of the Leader.”

I read both your poems and I think they are good. Nothing like the four I have posted, but good flow that holds the reader. I'm no expert and there all kinds of poetry. Oh, well, I not a poet anyway, I'm a novelist.
