Legend states that the unicorn was typically white with cloven hooves, a goat's beard and a lion's tail. Their horns were varying colors, depending on the magic they supposedly possessed.

My unicorn is a little different, because I based him on my horse I had growing up. His name was Rampage. At times I imagined him being a mythical beast, as a unicorn with very, very long hair, extra hair, almost feminine, and maintaining his beautiful coat color. In my mind he performed for the creatures of the woods. :) So, finally, after all these years of contemplation to paint him as I saw him, here it is.

:-) Rachael A. Tallamy replies: "LOL Yeah, I know. He's sort of short. (I giggled at your comment. My son was talking about chibis today.) "

One of the things that I like about your art is that it's extremely pleasant to look at. Your colouring schemes (in the pictures I've seen, anyway) are always so soft and work so well together. I think that does add something to the magical dreamlike quality of your pieces, this being no exception.

I've always loved seeing people's interpretations of unicorns and yours is one of the most beautiful ones I've seen. I love your idea of a performer and you've really set him down as such. I can just imagine this being the end of his performance and making that one last encore entry for the audience...

One of the most beautiful things about art is how, when it's really good, that one single momentary shot, gives rise to an entire story behind it instead of staring back at you lifelessly. Yours is wonderful at the 'storytelling in a single picture'.

Once again, a simply beautiful piece.

:-) Rachael A. Tallamy replies: "Your comment had me in tears. You have no idea how good it made me feel. Thank you so very much, so sincerely. "

I've always been more partial to the equine unicorns more than the original goat/lion looking ones. But the way you did the combination on this one is simply amazing. I love the mane, and the way the light effects absolutely illuminate the whole image is utterly entrancing.

:-) Rachael A. Tallamy replies: "Much appreciated. I truly thank you for looking and commenting."

I love the way you have captured the very heraldic look, and yet made a creature that looks entirely possible. Great work. 2

Amazing! I LOVE the light affects and in my opinion, Rampage was absolutley beautiful! At least from this reincarnation of a Unicorn. Beautiful work, keep it up!
