There is alot of depth to this picture its like you are looking straight into her world, i know thats probably the point but its done really well. Well done Rachael A. Tallamy replies: "Thank you! Yes, she's sad. Hence the title "Somber" I really appreciate your comment."

Actually, I just love the whole piece (though I'm sure that didn't surprise you at all ^-~). One of the most beautiful things about this, in my opinion, are the little sparkles near her wings and her ears. To me, they make it seem like we're only seeing her because of the sunlight, and then still not seeing all of her. Which I would tend to blame for a tedency to imagine said wingtips a little rounder. I love the sadness in her pose and how it's still mixed with a little bit of carelessness and thoughtfulness. Just like she's listening to a friend or a wise and admired family member. Well, maybe not just like that, as I can see a few stories springing from this piece. ^-^ I could get lost in your pictures and worlds... Your art is just absolutely gorgeous. Rachael A. Tallamy replies: "Once again, you have blown me awasy with your words. I really appreciate them more than you know.Feel free to write any story on any of my images. Others have. Then I place them on my website with the images and with links back to the writers.. pretty cool.Regarding this image: I am currently working on a piece that involves this fairy and my unicorn meeting."

Aside from the gorgeous lighting, I really like the dark trees in the background. Dark green shadows are all they are to us, the viewers, and they're even obscured a bit by hanging branches and leaves...I just want to keep looking into them, deeper and deeper, to try and spot fairy and elf shadows flitting between them in the forest glades. Relatively simple variation of shades, I guess (I'm no artist), but very effective.
