Light and dark, life and death, yin and yang, the world is composed of opposites. The source of all life is found in the breath. The grimm hound's ancient tribal wisdom dissolves into a soft spiritual smoke as it winds around the warm glow of the youth. Each is distinct, but their breath mix and takes the form of one another. They are connected.

That's just my interpretation anyway, I'm fascinated to see how you interpret it.

It is all one being staring into the reflection of itself across time; or, again crossing the temporal bridge, the human is exchanging some life-force for wisdom with an ancestral spirit guide; or it is the same creature, as it is by night and day; or it’s a particularly faithful dog-wolf appearing to its master in a dream to warn them of something. There are further possibilities, but I think this would do for now.
