Uh huh... She's a sorceress in a story I'm writing. I was really bored one evening and this pictre was the result. Her name's Adriana, and she's mildly dissapointed in the fact that I've only managed to do her in pencil so far.

It's fun to draw your characters. Even if they don't turn out how you want you get a feel for what they should look like and stuff. I personally enjoy drawing my characters aswell. But I tend to color them digitally.

Anyways: your picture.
The eyes are really pretty. Also, the forehead thing(I want to call them jewels, but I'm not 100% what they are) looks really cool. It adds to the mystery of the mage.
Even though it's a character sketch, try and go farther with shading. A little bit of shading can go a long way! 12

:-) Rae A Anderson replies: "Thank you very much! I appreciate the pointer about the shading. I've always tended to shade my pictures quite loosely and I've been trying to work on that so it's great to have someone mention it as a way to get motivated!"

Wow, cool pic. I love close ups like this because theyre so easy and fast. You took it a step further than i usually do though by adding any shade at all. I think the shading is great and even though it could go farther unless your going for the ultra-realistic look than sometimes its better to just take it easy like this. Either way you decide to do it i think youd do a good job either way. 2

This is beautiful! I can't find the words to write down how good this master-peace is2 Her eyes are so mysterious and how she looks right in my eyes or it seems like that. If i have to rate it in a 1-10 scale, I'd give you 11!

Is there anything you can't do? The hair is amazing (as it always is in your pictures) and the weird background adds to the mystique of the character and the story.

But that hair really is something special!

Yes I definitely prefer this version to the colour.

I like this one the detail to the face is wonderful... But usually my focus is on the eyes of what or who ever i am drawing so i seem to notice when others do well too... Congrats on a job well done!

Wow, this is really stunning. I like this better than the coloured version, not that the colouring is bad (cause it`s not!!!) but there is something with this scetch... It`s like I can feel the heat of the sun, and the wind in my hair... I don`t have the right words to tell all the other things i love about this piece, but I just wànt you to now that It`s really great!!!
