Feline dominatrix Leather Leopard and the overly zealous mutant Magical Frog-Girl are fetchingly monstrous villains from the infamous 1970s Japanese superhero series 'Deadly Cosmic Physician: Surgeon X'. Leather Leopard made her first appearance in episode 17, 'Sultry Plot of the Evil Cat Vixen', where the Queen of Endless Pleasures kidnapped 58 married men, evilly turning Japan into one big sex-drenched hootenanny! Not only do the half-hundred unloyal husbands willingly participate in the villainess' estrogen frenzy, they don 'Eat At The Y' bibs, serve cocktails, and set up a clandestine Viagra bootlegging plant at her secret knock-three-times-on-the-ceiling-if-you-want-me headquarters. Surgeon X must battle his way through hordes of the pharmaceutically galvanized horny old guys before getting to the Leopard herself. However, this imbroglio did not signal any sort of end to the rivalry between LL and the celebrated surgeon, for, due to popular demand, she returned in later adventures and became the show's ersatz Catwoman, constantly trying to get X into the sack. In the controversial episode 54, 'The Bedroom of Never Ending Undulations: How Long Can the Surgeon Last?!?!', she finally succeeds and our hero is never quite the same again.
Magical Frog-Girl first appeared midway through the series (episode 68: 'Busty Amphibian Teenager of Terror'). In it, Surgeon X's arch-nemesis, the Galactic Landlord, uses 'overly sentimental magic' to transform an ordinary frog into a humanoid lass with unusual powers. Frog-Girl begins her winsome reign of terror by melting people near Mt. Fuji with her acidic spit, but not before asking politely if she may do so. The victims, overwhelmed by her charm and chest size, dazzled and drooling, agree to the request. Surgeon X runs her over with a truck by show's end. Frog-Girl then mysteriously comes back to life (episode 189: 'Marriage to the Frog-Girl!') and tries to get hitched to the Surgeon. Unlike many of the past 'marriage stories', wherein a bevy of nubiles attempt various lurid schemes to lasso the medical wonder, Surgeon X eventually accepts her persistence and is ready to settle down with the buxom toad. However, being an amphibian and more than a little ditzy, she suddenly decides to change sexes and becomes the far more evil Magical Frog-Dude, who calls off the wedding and breaks X's heart, as well as an arm and almost a leg (Episode 190: 'Hands Off !!!'). Though a perennial favorite in San Francisco, this episode angered Surgeon X fans so much that it started a massive riot and, in 1978, led to a governmental banning of any future productions. With the advent of 'Sailor Moon', however, it appears politicians, appalled by the replacement, may soon be relenting.
CREATOR'S COMMENTS: Both females and 'Surgeon X' are parodies of Japanese live action superhero series and of the wacky monsters-of-the-week that are issued from them. Special thanks to Marc for help on the writing
