This is a close up of Phoenix Soaring. The large image should be near this one. Anyway, I had great fun with it. The eyes and the background took the longest, though I think I gave about equal time to everything, over all. You'd be surprised how hard it is to stop coloring fire and putting more layers on it just cause it's fun to draw.

This looks cool, except his head looks like it's facing directly forward. It doesn't really look like he's turning his neck to look down at you. Also, his feet look funny. Like ears of corn.

2 Kimberly Raptor Price Riley replies: "Thanks. And yeah, I had a lot of problems with the anatomy because birds really don't turn their head like that to look at you. They turn it to the side and look at you with one eye. So, technically this is all impossible, but hey, it was fun. As for the feet, I promise, those are just scales (yes, birds have scales)."

WOW!!! one word WOW!!! I love those colors(blue and orange highlights each other really well)

12 Kimberly Raptor Price Riley replies: "I agree. The two colors work well together even though orange isn't one of my favs, but for a souring fire bird, I can make an exception."

wow! I absolutely love this pic. Especially the levels of orange you used for the phoenix. It's adorable! Way to go!

18 Kimberly Raptor Price Riley replies: "Thanks, I'm glad you like it."

No offence, but his head makes him look like a great flying chicken...*shifty eyes*

36 Kimberly Raptor Price Riley replies: "Hehe, none taken. I kinda meant it to be that way, given the original description of a phoenix includes it having the head of a chicken.. along with a bunch of other strange parts... Though, I think it's the crest that makes it really look like that. "

it looks cool but its head kinda looks like a chicken.

:-) Kimberly Raptor Price Riley replies: "Yeah, he sorta does, probably the crest. Oh well, a phoenix is supposed to be part rooster."
