Well, for a very long time I've been meaning to make a raptor dragon statue. I finally did it. However, this poor thing suffered for the endeavor. I tried out a few new things with this one. Firstly, it's standing on two feet. Secondly, glass eyes. The glass eyes worked great, I will never go back to making clay eyes. The standing on two feet part.. not so great. There is wire and aluminum armature under it, and while that helped, it didn't go as planned. I had decided to create the entire dragon, expect for the wings, before I baked her. This ended up putting a lot of stress on the legs, so the thing kept sinking under it's own weight. Finally got her baked, and the legs end up breaking. I keep going, making the skin of the wing and such while making repairs with welder's putty. Which, might I note, worked very well on welding together the wire I was using. Get down to painting, most of the problems fixed, am just about done painting it, few last details, and she gets dropped and ends up breaking in several places. Finally, finally, I get all of that fixed, get her repainted and tada.. almost four weeks after I started, I am done! All problems fixed as well. I learned a lot making this dragon, enough that in the middle of my frustration with her, I made this little guy,
White Dragon. Anyway, here's what the
Raptor Dragon is about, and the original version of her. Enjoy.
