Ok, this poem is REALLY about me saying goodbye to my first horse... because we had to sell him *although somehow he's still here ><* and I was really sad - I'd had him for six and a half years, and I was too tall to own him any more... so these are really MY emotions...

Goodbye.

Silver wings may bear my love for thee

But they will never bring thee back

I cannot explain the fathoms between

I know it is thee that I lack.

Golden rivers may run in full

Tide of times away

But they can not, will not

Together let us stay

I wish thee and I could be

Never far from each others side

But always pulling at thy feet

Is the gleaming golden tide

You understand not why I cry

Yet essential is it to me

Silver tears remind my heart

Of why it is not to be

So farewell my love

Farewell my flight

Farewell to the rides on silver wings

That go on 'til the night

Justify this move, you say, and I know I cannot

Touch of salt against my skin

Seems it is our lot

Flight over bared blades

Soar on shining wings

Eyes closed, trust giv'n to thee

Memory of forgotten things

Farewell to thee, a promise giv'n

A kiss, a hug, a cry

Tears which soak your golden coat

Golden tides beneath blue sky

Believe that thee are in my heart

Those eyes brown gleaming true

Golden tides awaiting

Farewell I say to you.

There's a lot of very raw, very well portrayed emotion here (what scares me is that I could tell that it was Caitlyn commenting before I finished the first line of her comment) It's very beautiful... look at the it is and is it 's floating around... in some places they'd do well switched... and I understand the emotion of the thees and such, but they are, as said above, a wee bit distracting... other than those minor quirks, this was wonderfully written, very beautiful... mmm *agrees with herself* yes... Thanks very much...ignore the above reply to a comment which came too close to the truth,...ackk!! Run! BOOM.

Beautiful, very sad. Actually, I had to re-read what happened to your horse, 'cause after reading the poem I was under the impression that he died. Glad he didn't, he was just sold (although it IS still sad). What was his name (was it 'HE'?)? I get the idea that he had a golden coat, sounds beautiful. I just love the way you incorporated the coat color with the whole "golden tides" theme, mixed with silver wings. Right-o, gotta go...good work 2 -K *sheepish look* Baa.
*grins* Actually, his coat is this gorgeous *imo* red-brown colour, bit like a fox, with black legs (zebra stripes on the legs - soo cool). So the golden coat was just what he looks like caught in the sun, I guess. Thanks though ^^ His name is Red Skye, although I didn't name him. Also called Red Hot Chili Pepper (after me favorite band) ^^

*sobs* That's so sad... It was beautiful, Alice.

Given I absolutely abhor the white lines in between every line. *shudders* But other than that... This was very powerful, your emotions really shine through here. *hugs*

This was a beautiful piece. *scuttles off for a few moments and comes back a while later with a great great big bowl of chocolate icecream for Alice* *looks up with icecream on her face* Uh...Got Chocolate Icecream?

Wow, some of that was real special. So sombre though, don't you have a any happier poems? I feel so down now but in a beautifully sad way so no worries 12 Thanks matey - I'm in the process of writing a happy, non-violent story *ish* at the moment, so stay tuned ^^

Like how everything was golden & silver, watery & metallic. Not just the words but the feel of the poem itself. Yeah, that was the idea, the imagery of silver and gold can be incredibly strong, I've found.

This feels like a love poem.
About a horse.

Yo must have really loved riding the horse; on those 'silver wings', I believe?

Well, I suppose it's a pity that twas to be sold. But really, this was great. It felt very soft and sorrowful, as if on the verge of tears held back. Well, it was a kind of love. I did love him, if you can love an animal. But it was mainly because he taught me more than any teacher, and he was, in a funny kind of way, a friend (those who have animals should know what I mean). And yeah, I was on the verge of tears when he had to go, but I didn't have enough time to give him the attention he needed, so it was a necessary break. I dunno.
