| 11 Jun 2009 | Chris King | Loading...Hi Jake. I just looked at your page and you have quite a bit of selections to choose from. Is there any particular story on which you are looking for feedback? Jake Diebolt replies: "Hmmm, I guess it depends on what you’re in the mood for. If you want to start a long series, I’d like some feedback on the Godhunter stories. If not, any of the stand-alones would be good. Read whatever takes your fancy." | |
| 24 Jun 2009 | Daniel Black | Loading...Could you give me a detailed description of the Godhunter and his equipment? I’d like to draw a picture of him, if that’s allowed. Jake Diebolt replies: "That would be okay. Just make sure you reference the stories (I won’t pass up free advertising ). And make sure the Mods know you have my permission.
The Godhunter is about 6 foot 2 (full grown, anyway, after he’s done being the Herald). Dark brown hair with hints of grey, pale grey eyes. His age ’settles’ at a very hard-lived forty-five, so he’s pretty weathered. Depending on the timeline, one of his ears is pretty mangled from frostbite after his confrontation with the god of winter. Numerous scars as well.
Equipment: his staff is about two feet taller than he is, and once again depending on timeline, has one, two, or seven runes on it (use your imagination for that). Oak originally (I’m not sure how you’d draw that differently, though). His cloak used to be a dark green, but is mostly faded by long years of wandering. The rest of his clothing is faded greys and browns, which is almost as rough as he is. Finally, he has a hunting knife, single edged, slightly curved, with a plain leather-wrapped handle. He also has a small satchel for supplies and (gulp) trophies.
Feel free to make small changes depending on how you pictured the Godhunter. Let me know when the drawing is finished and posted so I can take a look."
| 8 Jul 2009 | Daniel Black | Loading...I finished the godhunter, he’s in pencil, with no colour, sorry about that. I won’t have access to a scanner for nearly two weeks, so you’ll have to waits. Jake Diebolt replies: "Argh, suspense is killing me! " | |
| 13 Jul 2009 | Gwenivere Stephan | Loading...Well... now that I am done with the Godhunter thing... I guess I will read the rest of your stuff. Eventually... my brain must recover from part 15. And.. why the heck haven’t I got you favorited? You should have told me XD Oh, no wait, I do... dang I cannot understand all these little icons... haha. Now I must wonder why I never get emails telling me about your updates... | |
| 19 Jul 2009 | Daniel Black | Loading...I’ve uploaded the godhunter, and I just need to wait for the picture to get published. Also, you told me you’d done the last two parts of the godhunter. Where are they? Jake Diebolt replies: "Yeah, the order got screwed up because I used the interactive html editor for the stories rather than upload a file. The two stories are sandwiched between "A primer on Koyani Theology" and one of the Arsenal stories. Just comb through them; I’ll hopefully be able to fix the bug soon!" | |
| 23 Sep 2009 | Selena Lilly Mead | Loading...Do you like to write books or just little pieces of things that you think of. I am more in to writing books, i am currently writing a book series. Jake Diebolt replies: "I actually used to write books more often. I went to writing short stories when college got busy and I couldn’t commit to writing consistently. Right now I’m getting back into longer works with my Godhunter series (and the sequel, the Fallen Moon). they’re about the size and shape of novels...
Having the discipline to sit down and write books is always a good thing, especially at your age! However, try writing a few quick short stories...they’re good for learning to develop characters and plots quickly, and drawing readers in. I’ve found its helped me a lot in my writing.
Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. Will you be posting any of your writings on your site? Let me know if you do, I’ll drop by with comments and critiques."
| 25 Sep 2009 | Selena Lilly Mead | Loading...I hope to post up some of my work, but i don’t know if that will happen soon. I do like to put up little pieces of my work sometimes to get feedback on it, but i have recently gotten a million ideas for a new book that i started writing at one in the morning I never quite sleep as well as i need to. I am now working on 8 different stories at the same time, it’s difficult to fit in with homework and prjects and all that, but i manage quite well. Actually i’m going to be 14 in 6 and a half months. I am in my last year of middle school so i am enjoying it while it lasts. | |
| 13 Oct 2009 | Smells Like White Spirit | Loading...Finally got up the courage to drop round and apologise after all these months - I’m really really sorry, I didn’t know New Elfwood would delete all a user’s comments on other people’s work when they left. Just another demonstration of the writers getting the short end of the stick, but arrgh, I really am sorry. I’m on the dissertation module of my MA now, so maybe I’ll have reading time in future - I’ve missed the intelligence and humour in your stuff. Jake Diebolt replies: "Don’t worry about it, these things happen. I’m trying to be more active in the woods here; I feel like I’m finally starting to contribute comment wise. I hope you’ll drop by and do some reading.
Good luck with your dissertation!"
| 21 Oct 2009 | Jeremy Whiteoak | Loading..."Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated." Oh? You didn’t notice my leave of absence? Uh, yes, well, anyways. Now that rl has calmed down it’s time to catch up with my least favorite character and hope against hope that he will be justly penalized. Here’s to ya mate! | |
