| 22 Jul 2008 | Dory Giselle Brooks | Greetings, may your small toe never fall off and get eaten by sneezing hyenas! I like hiking too. Hiking is so much fun... with the right people Jake Diebolt replies: "And may your index finger never be devoured by camouflaged leather glove demons. Also, sometimes the right company for hiking is just yourself." | |
| 3 Aug 2008 | Lucian Raum | Hello again, Jake- Glad I made it back here! ... I don’t have much posted but I am working on stuff. I’ve got two big projects I’m working on, one of which I’ve given myself an October 1st deadline for. It’s not really depressing, though. haha... it’s more of a happy adventure story aimed for middle/high school reader. The stories I posted here are "journal entry-esque" writings I did late at night to cure writer’s block. I find myself wanting to do it more often, though, since I started up on elfwood again. So... now I have more questions. You sent stuff away? Did you send it to an agent or directly to a publisher? Does that mean they rejected it, then? That gets me a bit nervous... hehe. I like your writing and imagined that the good stuff gets noticed eventually. Jake Diebolt replies: "I sent stuff away twice; once, four or five years ago, to Daw books. That was rejected (not surprising, the book itself wasnt very polished). then again about a year ago, I sent a manuscript to Baen books, and they haven’t gotten back to me. The way to go, as I’ve seen from success stories, is to get an agent who knows you well, and make as many contacts as possible; sending manuscripts into ’slush piles’ where they’re looked over once by entry-level editors is so far what I’ve done, and it hasnt paid out. At this point, though , I cant really justify the time needed to try and find a publisher really seriously. It all depends on how much work you put into it, I guess." | |
| 11 Aug 2008 | Kelsey M. Graham | *pokepoke* when are you going to write more..... ((shameless plugging time)) my short story and new chapter are up ((/shameless plugging time)) *looks up at above comment* how about you try again? send your stuff to as many publishers as possible! I would buy your book. Jake Diebolt replies: "I’m writing more as we speak; one of the last two parts of Tribunal is done and I’m working on the second one. Also another Godhunter. Should be up in a week or two, depending on time and tides. As for publishing, I’ll be trying again once I get a response from Baen books; the buggers haven;t contacted me in about a year and I begin to think they’ve lost me in the shuffle. I’ll pop by your library sometime soon and read your new stuff." | |
| 9 Sep 2008 | Ben mercer | Hey jake, your stuff is awesome; write more when you can! remain awesome! Jake Diebolt replies: "Yes, sir! Remaining awesome, sir!" | |

| 14 Oct 2008 | Cecily ´SLWS´ Webster | O_O good gods and dark you’ve gone mushroomlike...pointers to start? Jake Diebolt replies: "This comparison to fungus is...perplexing. If you’re asking where to start reading, I’d recommend the Godhunter or Heretic Wars series. " | |
| 24 Oct 2008 | Cecily ´SLWS´ Webster | Mushrooms appear in millions overnight...I assure you I haven’t forgotten you, I just fail at organisation at present. [’hums If I Only Had A Brain’] I can probably coax some of my fairies out here if you want to watch them, though. Jake Diebolt replies: "Don’t worry aboot it. When you’ve got time, drop in, I’m always up for some feedback." | |
