Sooner or later, the things we love - we lose. FLORENCE & THE MACHINE 'you got the love'

alternatively - At the Temple, there is a poem called 'Loss' carved into the stone. It has three words, but the poet has scratched them out...you cannot read loss, only feel it. MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA

- - -

In the leaden silence of night, a witch-child visits the grave of a loved one - she has been cursed to immortality, chased out by her village, she is doomed to stand and watch helplessly as her beloved family grow up and die before her eyes, knowing that she can never die with them. no blade, no rope - no poison can relieve her of her burden. she has been cursed to live forever, until and beyond the ending of the world. she is only a girl, just a little girl, yet she bears the weight of Ages...

this will be coloured eventually, but for now - enjoy.

WAAAAA!!!!!! Wow Nat, you know me so it’s no surprise how much this catches at my heart. Seriously, i could cry right now. This is beautiful and your words behind it couldn’t be more beautiful. Good twist too, she could have the World’s ending to look forward to, but no, she will even live beyond that. Beautiful and tragic twist to an overused message.
Plant a tree for me when i go.

Could you make a shadow tutorial? It looks so cool 18

:-) Natalie Adams replies: "really? well i could do - it’s very simple really : i just have a Multiply Layer ontop of the colours, and use a light grey (and varying shades of) to colour over where i want the shadows to be, then blur. this way, i get a uniform shadow tone, rather than adding all the different coloured shadows. it’s just easier. Also, i somwtimes finish off using the Burn tool on the Shadow layer to deepen the darkest areas.
Hope that helps, but i can do a tutorial if you like."

I love that mist, and the fact she isn’t wearing any shoes. It makes her feel so young and a little fragile in her grief.

:-) Natalie Adams replies: "2 thank you. i never really realised i had drawn her with no shoes, it just seemed right. 2"
