SciFi and Fantasy Art Indian Angel by Regan M. Johnson

For the holidays last year, I took the image of an angel and played with it. Most Americans seem to think that if there are angels they would be blond and white and covered up in holy robes. My angels in the series were nude, ethnically diverse, and had wings of native birds from their regions. This is the Indian Angel with peacock wings. My predominately Southern Baptist family was satifyingly shocked!

She is beautiful, and you chose perfect colors. It is a wonderfully creative concept as well. I agree with Nia 'Frost' Schenk too: a korean angel with heron wings would be gorgeous. I am bookmarking your gallery, so keep updating!
24 Aug 2007	Khargosh Agha	Loading... Beautiful image! May I ask you if the angel´s headgear originates from an Odissi costume (a classical Indian dance)? It sure looks like that to me. As for drawing a Korean angel, I´m all go for it, if you´d wanna do it.

13 Nov 2007	Natalie Hatch	Loading... Absolutely gorgeous! I love the inspiration behind it! Stereotypes are so degrading. You took a traditional symbol and made it into something that other cultures could take pride in, share, and appreciate. Just lovely!

I always get extreemly annoyed at pale caucasian representations of Jesus and Mary, mostly because we have darned good evidence that they weren't european... Anyhow, she is gorgeous!
