Beast of Insanity Concept Sketch for Nightmare Beginnings
> The Beasts are some of the most basic Nightmare creatures that the PCs (player characters) will encounter. The basic types designed thus far are Destruction, featuring a lashing tongue and big piston-like hands that do much crushing, Insanity that has whip-like tentacles that cause acid damage and torturing the mind of those who look at it (dealing sanity damage), and Deceit, a creature of cloak and dagger that causes the PCs to see illusions and visions that throw them off track or against each other.
I have discovered that tentacles are incredibly hard to draw, and anybody who can I must say: more power to you. This is most likely the largest (it takes up almost an entire page) sketch I’ve done to date, and as such I found it hard to include detail (it comes best to me when I’m working with a small area). Drawn with a .5mm red drafting pencil and then over with details with a .5mm mechanical pencil.

23 Aug 2005	RayRay	Loading... ohhh, yay first post, love the pic, it adds a sort of eeriness to it with all the red, i think, that it looks a bit uncompleted and would love to see it completed, i think it would be Really nicely done Mark 'Shadowvalor' Reinard replies: "It is, sadly, as completed as it is ever going to get. I do have a habit of redesigning a lot of things, especially things that end up looking 'unfinished' when they're first sketched."
23 Dec 2005	Jen	Loading... I think you managed with the tentacles quite nicely my dear. Not being an artist myself (no talent whatsoever) I can't really comment on the degree of hardness involved with drawing them. ButI can say they seem like they would be tough and I think you did pretty good on them.
