Alright, I understand, it's just that that is a realy long time....anywhoo...thanks for commenting on my page, I think your stuff is very odd, but good. May the stars shine on you and the mods accept your stories. Richard Aaron Bruns replies: "I wrote 'enjoy the rest of the year' back in October. I meant that I would relax for a few months. Hopefully I will be posting things by February.Anyway, thank you for your comment and blessing!" | |
| 28 Nov 2005 | Evelyn 'grey wanderer' Wightman | Oh, well if it's just a few months then that's ok. Sory I didn't read it properly. *shuffled away* Richard Aaron Bruns replies: "That's okay. I'd rather you spend time reading my stories, not my bio " | |
| 17 Jan 2006 | Madison K. Binkley *Bubbles* | Wee! HEllo, sorry I haven't been on much lately, eighth grade teachers are ruthless when they give homework *eyes the science textbook* Anywho...thank you for the encouragement on my page and my artwork is certainly better than my writing, but I'm working on that. Tell me, How do you get through so many chapters on one story? I'm working on one that's called Soul Catcher and I'm only on chapter 3, does it just get easier, or is writing a big story just something that comes and you shouldn't force it? Grr...it's been frustrating, I swear, the main character is so hard to write about she gives me sinus headaches sometimes... *waves* Bye! Richard Aaron Bruns replies: "Well, I didn't get much done with the Erin stories until I made a public promise to put up one chapter a month. That worked pretty well because I knew that there were a couple of people waiting for updates. I had to stop after a while, though, because it was getting harder and other commitments got in the way.I find that the stories almost write themselves if you have a good character and a good world. Don't think about the plot so much. Don't work too hard to make a story. Just think like the character and think, "If I was in this situation, what would I do?" Do that for all the characters, and you will find that interesting and fun things happen by themselves. It helps if you have some experience in acting or role-playing.Anyway, that's what I do. Give it a try." | |
| 30 Jan 2006 | Antony M. B. Sadler (Drig) | Hm! Hm! *clears throat* *cough cough* Well it is 2006 and near the end of Jan - Oh Happy New Year btw. Now onto the more serieous stuff - it is nearly then end of January do I need to light a fire over there? *starts collecting wood* *whistles happily* *strikes match - manical evil laugh* Mruwahh Ha Ha Haaaaa!!!! Richard Aaron Bruns replies: "You can light a fire if you want, but it will just burn me up before it makes me start moving. I'm in the middle of a fairly extensive rewrite of the Erin stuff; I am trying to get away from the stock fantasy and make it a more original and logical world.I promise that I will let you know when the changes are up. But thanks for stopping by!" | |
| 16 Feb 2006 | Averil 'Boar Warrior' White | Thanks for the comment on my page! Wow, looks like I have some reading to do.... | |
| 20 Mar 2006 | Brendon Adam Shapiro | Yay! Fazad has finally been updated, if you're still interested! Oh, and from now on, I will be sending out e-mails to inform of updates instead of these comments, so that I don't tell you unless you actually want to know. E-mail me at nodnerb42@hotmail.com if you wish to be added to my update list. Thanks so much! Richard Aaron Bruns replies: "Thanks for the offer. I've been checking up on the story, even if I have not been commenting as much. There isn't really much to say; you are doing a good job with that story and it remains fun to read." | |
| 13 Jul 2006 | Mandy E. Burnham | I found who wrote "By the Waters of Babylon." It was a man by the name of Stephen Vincent Benet. Give him a google. He sounds like an instering cat. Richard Aaron Bruns replies: "Excellent. Thank you. I was able to look up the author and find that work. Knowing that it is he same author that wrote "The Devil and Daniel Webster" made me want to read it.And it was an excellent story. Thank you for comparing my work to it. The themes are indeed the same." | |
| 8 Sep 2006 | Emily R. Lacy-Nichols | Richard: I am sorry to hear that we won't be getting anything new from you for a while (but you have my complete sympathy; I'm leaving for college on the 19th sept and my work, I know, will suffer as well). Thank you so much for the insightful comments you have given my stories. They have really made me stop and rethink my writing (and I have come to the inescapable but foreshadowed conclusion that I don't plan well and then run into continuity errors of plot, setting and character. I am therefore going on a huge revision fest). I hope I have been able to give back to you some of what you have given me. I wish you good fortune in your quest for a Ph.D, and hope that when you have the time and desire you will again grace Elfwood with your thought-provoking and well-written stories. Good luck! Richard Aaron Bruns replies: "Thank You!I wish you good fortune in your college as well. May you never meet anyone like Ky." | |
| 31 Oct 2007 | Jannike Åkersten | I read your Angle: Maria's Gallery and thought it was great so I read the other Angle stories and thought they were almost as good, except for Angle: First Responder which is even better then Maria's Gallery imho. Because they were so very good I did something I almost never do, I started reading a long story, Erin, without checking when the last update was made. I hate it when I can't read all of a good story. So now I wonder, will Erin be updated or has it been binned? Richard Aaron Bruns replies: "Oh, I have great plans for Erin. Some day I want to re-edit it, and add lots of new chapters. But realistically, I probably will not get around to it for some time. But I think it is still worth reading. The story is not a fraction of a novel, with a single unfinished plot. Instead, It is more like a television series, where each episode can stand on its own. Chapters 1 through 5 form a kind of prequel story that explains why and how Erin started adventuring. Chapters 6 and 7 form her first adventure. Any future chapters would be in the form of a single standalone adventure, or maybe a two-parter with a cliffhanger In fact, when I do start putting up new chapters, they will not be numbered. Well, the filename will be like 'erin08' and they will be some overall plot, but they would definitely be standalone short stories. So you are not really missing anything by their absence. Please read and comment. Even if you simply hate something and think it has no value, tell me about. Any feedback is better than silence " | |
| 29 Nov 2007 | Sean A. Bennet | Hey, shadowbennet here. You were one of the two people who commented on my story "Life at the Keep". Part three is being submited right now, so all it's waiting on is the ticket line, and I have a small story that I have put up as an intro for another story. I'm in Iraq right now, and working on my writing seems like a good way to spend the extra time. Wrote both Ana'tuhl, where the city itself will be an amazing element to work with, and part three of the Life at the Keep section on Feighn Swoard's book in less than a week each. Have your eyes open for part three if you want to read it, and could ou comment on what you think of the intro to my other story. Competely different style than I'm used to working with, and would appreciate your critical help there. Love your stories. It's like having a free book sent to me while I fight in this war. Wouldn't know what to do without books. Probably write more! Thanks again!!! Richard Aaron Bruns replies: "Okay, I'll check back in about a month to read your story " | |
