The dreadful Comment Zone! If you have comments, though, then you have nothing to be afraid of. If you haven't... well, best hope someone gives you one soon.

It is dark around you and you cannot see a soul anywhere. You can't even see your own hands. A horrible, empty void filled with nothing.

You scream and start running around mindlessly (now that's stupid).

You spot a faint glow ahead of you, so you start running towards it.

As you approach the glowing area, you see something just at the peak of your visual range. Is it...? Could it be...? Someone else, just like you, lost in this place? But before you can confirm the truth of this, the shape has moved itself back to the empty dark void and you cannot see it anymore. You walk into the glow. As you hit the center of it (how does one know where the center is from a GLOW?), you go practically blind again.

WELCOME, something says in your head. That startles you.

"Who's there?!"

THIS IS NOT A PERSON.

"What...? What are you? How do you do that in my mind??"

THIS IS SIMPLE CREATION TO AID YOU. PLEASE SPECIFY YOUR QUESTIONS.

How strange... You are a bit calmer though. "What kind of thing are you anyway?"

THIS IS A HELP. Right. That clears things up (not).

You take a moment to think about this further. "What am I doing here?"

THE SAME AS OTHERS OF YOUR KIND.

"So there are others. I saw someone on my way here."

YES. THIS WAS NOT THAT PERSON'S AREA. THEY HAVE REMOVED IT TO THIS PERSON'S IT. Bit difficult to follow his... its... whatevers thoughts. Or something.

"Yes... Well... Where exactly am I?"

YOU ARE IN THE COMMENTS ZONE.

"Comments? What the hell...?"

NOT HELL. THE COMMENTS ZONE.

"Explain. Shortly, please."

There is a short silence, then the voice in your head begins: YOU ARE AN ELFWOOD WRITER. EVERY ARTIST OR WRITER ARE BROUGHT HERE EVENTUALLY. THOSE WHO HAVE COMMENTS WILL SEE THEM AND LEAVE WHEN WANTED. THOSE WHO DON'T HAVE COMMENTS WAIT UNTIL ONE IS PLACED UPON.

You pause to consider this for awhile. "I didn't have any comments the last time I checked... That means I have to be in this... this... blackness until someone gives me ONE comment?"

YES, the voice booms.

"And that other person I saw... No comments?"

NO, again booming.

"Oh dear... That doesn't sound very nice."

IT IS THE WAY THINGS ARE.

"Oh dear... I need help... I need a comment..."

Every day there are global disappearences of people from elfwood who don't have any comments. The number increases every day. We hope that this short article will aid all those people in empty Comment Zones. We hope that you take it on yourself to help those who need your assistance. Whenever you see a picture or story without comment, make one. You just might help someone back home...

Now I have to check too *googles 'define19xymoron'*
"A combination of contradictory terms, such as used by Romeo in Act 1, scene 1 of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet:" Why then, O brawling love! O loving hate! O heavy lightness, serious vanity; Misshapen chaos of well-seeming forms! Feather of lead, bright smoke, cold fire, sick health!"
The funny ones are where you take an ironic interpretation of at least one of the two words of a well-known title like public education (assuming that the public contradicts being educationable) and military intelligence (assuming that it's not possible to have intelligence in the military).
You do understand irony, I guess? Not at all.

So it is, I was trying not to sound sarcastic 1
Considering the fluency in irony of my Finnish colleague here at work, I should have known that there was no cultural difference here 1
Then again, I was hoping you might be from Betelgeuse...Well, I meant myself... Why'd you hope that? O.o

And sorry for the italic-tags, I forgot you can't do these in comments...Actually, they start working after I've answered, because you can use html in here.

Well, there isn't much believing to aliens, is there?
They are either up there, or they are not. Neither state has been confirmed yet.
So wouldn't it be cool if they turned out to be there and you could meet one? I'm actually rather religious and there's no way we'd accept any kind of possibilities for aliens. And they'd freak me out anyway.

It would be cool to meet an alien, wouldn't it?I don't believe in aliens.

You're a Furry! *shudder*

[quote]
furry, n., adj.
1. an anthropomorphized animal character, or humanoid character with animal-like features; also zoomorph, morph, anthropomorph(ic), cartoon animal, funny animal. 2. a fan of films, animations, comics, stories, and/or games featuring "furry" characters. 3. reference to a specific subculture of fandom/geekdom dedicated to anthropomorphized animal characters in comics, stories, and films, with an emphasis on role-playing and character identification, sometimes involving the construction of elaborate costumes; often with sexual undertones.

Addendum: a lot of gamers are furries; and the rest of us are very, very scared.
[unquote]

(Yes, I'm a gamer. Now you shudder.)Don't you ever insult me like that again. I ought to delete this comment for being so rude.

And for your damned information I too am a gamer. I am not a goddamn furry.

Comics are cool. But what comic are you referring to and who is Atlas?Better Days and J. Atlas Burke, fellow elfwoodian writer.

Aliens would only freak me out if they tried to eat me or something.
Otherwise, it would be fascinating to see how their biology and culture would be different from ours.Hmm. Bah, aliens are boring. Let's talk about comics. I just read this new one, with twins in the lead. They're actually different sex, but anyway. Atlas summed it up pretty well; Hot XXX kitten on kitten action... 1

*reads newer comments . . . gets confused* ahem . . . Aye, he got a bit carried away. ^^
Ahh the commentless darkness . . . I know it so well . . my eyes are starting to forget what light looks like . . . *starts to see light at the end of the tunnel* Surprisingly many people have been there. I'm glad they got out.

I do what I can - try to comment on any story I take the time to read. Comment on mine and I'll be sure to comment back 10 . . . . perhaps even constructively. Anyway creative piece, personalization in this way is quite interesting and a nice place to leave comment type chatter. 1

:-) R.E. 'Riibu' Kankaanpää replies: "Alright, I'll see what I can do. I'm a busybee for the weekend though, and I've come to loathe to humming of mu computer, so I don't turn it on that much.. -_-; Anyway, thanks. 2"
