| An illustration for the card game Bella Sara's edition Northern Light. Originally meant to be Rhiannon, the horse goddess, but was later changed to be Danu, the mother goddess. Oh well, could be worse... They are both Celtic goddesses. Rhiannon was the horse goddess, and was as such closely related to the Celtic kings. If the king did not have the horse goddess's support they could lose their status/life. The items around here are the four magical treasures that the Tuatha Dé Danann brought with them to Ireland. These again are linked to Celtic kings. The item around her neck is a torc. Lots and lots of research went into this. The Celtic culture is annoyingly difficult to find visual references for. There's quite simply not much left. |
