Welcome!
My name is Risto-Matti and I'm 26. I study computer science at the University of Helsinki, although my studies sometimes advance a bit slowly due to my part-time job as a mobile phone game designer. I've been a happy vegan for 10 years, and I've never been drunk :D
My hobbies, aside from drawing, include hiking (conquered six mountain ranges last year), swimming (outdoors and in), cycling, crafts and cooking (I especially like to make chinese, indian, mediterranean and mexican food). I also compose music and play some instruments, namely guitar, darbuka, tar and other frame drums, mandolin, recorder, jaw harps, didgeridoo, kamanche (an asian violin, which I built), kanjira, charango, cajon and all kinds of objects that come by, and I also sing, both in a normal voice and in Xöömei (Tuvan throat-singing). If you ever come to Helsinki and notice somebody practicing Xöömei on a bus-stop, that's probably me ;)
I've been drawing on and off for maybe 9 years, starting with funny little comics and then dabbling in the anime style. Somewhere in the end of 2004 I got really inspired and started drawing nearly every day. There are always new things to learn. You might come to notice that there's quite a bit of shôjo-ai (girl-girl love) in my art. That's one of my favourite subjects, as are landscapes.
Here are the tools I use for my art:
- 2.0 and 0.7 mechanical pencils and copier paper for drawing.
- Japanese G-Pen and maru nibs and ink for inking
- A Canon LiDE scanner for transfer (the cheapest scanner I could find)
- Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 and a Wacom Intuos tablet for the colouring and painting
