Cool picture. Like the details on the castle. I kinda agree with Tim's message but not how it was worded. Observation is a good skill for 2d and 3d artists to have.

That´s a really great picture, the setting look ecxact as I imagined it while reading the books. I like the background very much, but I have to agree with the poster that it doesn´t really look natural (but that´s a general problem with 3D backgrounds, not your fault, I guess) Maybe you could try to blur the layer in which the 3D background is before connecting it with the figure´s layer, so the problem with the "overdetailedness" and the perspective blurring could be a bit solved (doing this manually with a sort of "gaussian blur" tool with different pressures would work best).

You know, I've been meaning to read the Death Gate Cycle for a while, I've all the books downstairs, except book 1. Which I -know- is there, just can't find it.

wooooooW! the sky is awesom: the colour above is just right and the layers of clouds below are amazing and the floating islands are fantastic! I love how the light both hits the cstle and backlightss it. I confess I don't think much of photoshop usually but I love this!

OK look people it's great that ppl are doing Death Gate art, don't get me wrong cuz i luv the Death Gate Cycle but come on could u not draw Iridal if you're totally going to bomb it? I mean that pic is an insult 2 her. sorry, but I'm just keepin' it real.

The scenery and the wyverns are great. The castle is really interesting. From this angle, you would not be able to see that woman's breast, and the addition of it threw her proportions all out of whack. Overall, very nice work.

Don't even know if this'll get seen, or if it's expecially relevant, since I just found this while Googling for reference pictures of Haplo's tattoos and the other comments are years old...

I can't really be sure how much of this work is yours, since an earlier poster said that some of it is pre-rendered from the program you used. However, if I assume you did all of this yourself, the backgrounds all look very nice, expecially the detail on the castle. However, compared to the rest, Iridal looks EXTREMELY cartoonish. Solid color, simplistic shadows. Also, on the shadows, they are simplisitic throughout the image. Unless the light is a lot brighter, the eye should still be able to make out some detail in the shadowed regions. Plus, Iridal's shadow doesn't quite line up with her body, and the angle seems to be off, though not by much. In short: Work on shadows, and more detailing on the characters.
