This is a poem I wrote for my 8th grade lang/lit teacher. We're presenting them to another class, but at least we get free coffee :) ! I hope you enjoy it.

Quietly flapping his wings,

He delights in the

Sensation of flight.

Beautiful feathered

Wings beat

The sky

Easily.

A lone feather

Drifts from the sky and

Meanders back down

To Earth.

His large, intelligent

Eyes sparkle as

The wind gently

Caresses his mane.

Stars glow brilliantly

In the sky, but

Not as brightly as

The one who exudes

The dazzling glow

Of happiness.

He parts reluctantly from

The sky, and

Wanders back down

To the earth

Below. His golden

Hooves touch the

Ground, and the

Noble Pegasus

Looks heavenward,

Saying farewell to

The night sky,

Before trotting

Gracefully into

The forest,

A flash of light

In darkness.

*laughs at Tim's comment* Precisely what I was thinkin', boy-o. But oh well. *shurg 'n' grin* As poems go, this one ain't half bad: instead of obscure lines that could be describing anything from a broom to fairie, you've got some nice concrete lines, with some nice concrete imagery to match, and some nice emotions overlaying it all.

Nice is, you should know, the word of the day. ^_~

1 Sarah Liu replies: "I totally agree with you. I hate poems with very vague descriptions because they confuse me. I'll have to make nice the word of the day for fun, just to see what my friends say!"

Not as good as your long one, too much empahsis on sky, i spose im not to good at poetry but at least this had a nice sound to it.

:-) Sarah Liu replies: "Yeah, this is definitely not my best poem. Maybe I'll go in and change parts of it one day."

Oo! I like! I'm not very good at poems, but this is nice. ^_^ What Tim said.

:-) Sarah Liu replies: "Thanks! I don't think I'm not very good at poems either, but they're fun to write."

I just realised that Alice Smith doesn't exactly have a thing for poems...oh well.

This is really nice, and I like the, what's it called? Metre, or something, of it. The way it flows gracefully down reflects the subject matter, and that works brilliantly.

:-) Sarah Liu replies: "Thanks for commenting! I wrote this in like 5 minutes for school, so I'm glad someone likes it!"
