A wood elf myth from a short story I wrote a while ago (That included Ahren and Ailla) Included a passage about Ahren and his father Dulnen. Ahren, youthfully questioning about the where's and why's of the world, implors his father to tell him of the snow fairies, bringers of life in an otherwise barren season. In their enchanted forest, the snow fairies float to the earth on their glimmering wings of ice. Each rides to the earth as a snowflake, forsaking her wings when she reaches the earth to bring warmth and food to the creatures of the land. When her task is through, she rides the wind back to the heavens. If her effort on the earth was gentle and fair, the queen mother, Eluthryn, grants her her permanent wings to fly amongst the clouds. If not, she must continue a life of servitude during each winter storm to prove herself worthy of her wings. Ahren at one time questions why he's never seen these snow fairies if they fall with every snow. His father patiently explains that their hair is the color of the winter sky, and their skin of pale blue ice is adorned with raiments of flowing sunlight. When they wish not to be seen (as they usually do, especially around humanoids) they curl themselves into a tiny ball, and spread their wings, making themselves near transparent among their wintery surroundings.

This is amazing.
Lot's of blue colors... Me likes.
The wings are so cool. How did you do them?

:-) Dani M. Rothe replies: "I found a website a while ago that had a ton of pics of snowflakes magnified and lit to see the detail. After that it was just a really long process of looking back and forth at how to shade the angles. Glad you like it 1 "
