From the thumbnail the picture looks more skewed than it actually is. I reality I think you got the expression pretty well, and the lighting (esp, the blue light) looks quite good. I think what the picture lacks is colour definition. It should look bold and striking, but the colours are very pale. Of course, for a first try it's still pretty good, but I think you should experiment with colour, and (eventually) you'll get things right. It can be quite scary, trying out different tones and shades, but I think this picture would look really good with bolder hues - and you're very brave to take on a subject that needs so much attention to lighting and colour.
