| 15 Feb 2004 | Gene 'SleepingDragon' Erno | Wow, this stuff is simply incredible! Beautiful work. Your art far surpasses anything I would be able to do and I know zero about 3-D modeling. For that reason. maybe I should not even comment, but if only people as good or better than you offer input, you won't get a whole lot from what I see. Everything looks so absolutely 'there' that it's actually a problem in a couple of the pics. It sort of makes the characters look like posed mannequins in a way.(sorry, I'm really not trying to be harsh) I would guess this is the biggest challenge 3-D designers face...conveying emotion in a virual world where everything is rendered to perfection. Arianna you nailed and the elf guy is pretty close but the other pics lack that quality that makes them feel like real people somehow. I'm not sure what I would suggest. You're colleagues would probably know better than I would. Maybe adding some blur or mist in places to prevent eyes from picking up the CG look? I hope you don't take my comment a knock because it is really not. Your work is wonderful. I know people that see this comment might think it's being overly critical, but you are already on top of your game and to improve any further will probably require people to point out those sort of things. Beautiful work. Fabulous R´Shara Elendil replies: "Hey Eugene,Don't worry, I can take constructive criticism, as long as it's Constructive! And I happen to agree that the male figures tend to have that glazed CGI look. I think I did better with Moiraine then with Narellin, though. It's tough trying to keep the same intrinsic look while adding expressions in such a way that they don't look utterly cheesy, or, well, stoned Working on it though." | |
| 7 Mar 2004 | Madeline nite | These are very real. They actuall remond of like xbox or playstation graphics. Lol all my friends are gamers so i kinda relate it to games. Great work R´Shara Elendil replies: "Hey, thanks for your comment! All of us are gamers too, so I guess that's why things tend to turn out that way " | |
