I can really FEEL the emotions here; the daughter seems sad about something, I'd wager that she gets moved aound alot and doesn't want to leave someplace behind yet again, I'd also go as far to say that the father looks like the kind that try to keep up a strong exterior, but wishes they could stay for his daughter's sake- even though something important has them moving out. Beautiful picture, no flaws that I can spot- Except, what does that say on the arm of his shirt? All can make out is 'Lone Star', is he from Texas? All in all, my favorite non-powered-armor picture. Keep up the good work!

He was an ex-cop in a privatized police force, much like the Detroit police in Robocop. The police force is part of a corporation called Lone Star. The patch says "Lone Star--Seattle", and beneath that are the words "To Serve and Protect".

For a while, my dad's beard and hair were much like this. He currently sports a beard more reminiscent of a Civil War general, but as recently as two weeks ago, a family friend commented that my Kamikaze drawings looked like my dad."

Rubenstahl replies: "Thanks for posting! I'd hoped to get that feeling across in the drawing, and it looks like it worked. I'm amazed that it does work; this drawing's over ten years old, and was done at a time when I was still working out my 'style'."
| 14 May 2004 | Brian Keith Cooke | Loading...Still working out your style, eh? I should try that sometime. I think they work pretty well together, although composition-wise I think the headband might have worked better on the left than the right. Seems a tiny bit unbalanced. Or my head is. One of the two. Lone Stars, huh? Not just S.T.A.R.S.? Or maybe I've been playing too much Resident Evil... Chris M. Rubenstahl replies: "You're probably right. I could probably still manipulate the pic and check out the composition that way. And in Shadowrun, it's Lone Star, a for-hire police force that contracts out to various cities, including the default Shadowrun setting of Seattle." | |
