A former warrior, a samurai, who had dealings with demons and things from beyond the barrier... he has spent the last three hundred years regaining his soul piece by agonizing piece. The armor, especially the head, was inspired by one of the villains in the Urotsukidoji (Legend of the Overfiend) series.

Hmmm.. If my memory suits me, Legend of the Overfiend is Hentai! I never saw the first one, only Return of the Overfiend

The armor on this figure is fantastic! Very well drawn and shaded. I can't believe you though you weren't a fantasy artist! The figure's expression is great as well.

Yeah, I wanted the armor to look sort of retro-samurai... and that was before I made up his history. I just wanted all these different textures to meld, and the armor to look kind of piecemeal, but still serviceable, kind of like Boba Fett.

Great job. It reminds me of some of the artists from Heavy Metal magazine. Bilal(sp.) in particular.

Kabal the samurai warrior is the bomb folks. I give it a A+ on its tight looking armor. No doubt that this is the best picture on the web.

Hehe the belts and buckles look like bandaids12 nice job on the shading, he looks like a very intense character

:-) Chris M. Rubenstahl replies: "Band-aids? **g** Looking at them now... yeah, I can see that. And yes, he was an intense character..."

incredibly nice picture... one small detail though, "Kabal" isn't a possible name in Japanese, at all. Firstly, there is no "l", secondly Japanese is whatsit called syllabic, so his name'd be "Kabaru". trust me I'm half

:-) Chris M. Rubenstahl replies: "I know... I took a year of Japanese (I don't remember much of it, though). 'Kabal' is a mystical name that was applied to him by others, rather than by himself. I'd have to look up the Japanese translation of 'cabal', but I'm pretty sure it would be in kanji, and thus not sound anything NEAR cabal in English. Thanks for your comments, though."
