Rubenstahl replies: "I'm a firm believer in the concept of form following function. If a piece of equipment, or a suit of armor, or a weapon can't stand on its own merits, scrap it."
| 4 Feb 2002 | ChromeNewt | Loading...Mmm, women in uniform..... Ahem, right, back to reality. Excellent drawing, and I especially like the face. I find a real problem drawing a pretty girl's face from imagination, but I certainly wouldn't argue if she ordered me about, fwar! =D~ Chris M. Rubenstahl replies: "Ten-hut!" | |

| 14 Jan 2003 | Akyra | Loading...I like her expression. Is that a X-Wing in the background, left of her head? Chris M. Rubenstahl replies: "Thanks again; the vehicle speeding away (blurred) isn't an X-Wing, it's one of the Colonial Marines' dropships (from Aliens) with its weapon arms deployed." | |
| 21 Jul 2003 | Christiano Louis Bellotti | Loading...Alright, I love the marines from Aliens. This is a fantastic picture, you really did their design justice. The armor looks great, as does the shading and proportions.. The face is also great, I like her expression.. She doesn't look too sure of things. The only thing strange I noticed about the picture was her helmet seems a bit small, almost like a bandana. But that really doesn't detract from the picture, it came out fantastic. Great work here! Chris M. Rubenstahl replies: "Oops. I just didn't make clear how large the brim of her helmet is. In the original drawing it's there; it was so light that it didn't scan properly. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, though!" | |
| 8 Oct 2003 | Jay | Loading...I think this is a great picture You should be proud! I like all the small details you added like the Cards on her helmet and the dropship flying off into the distance. There is one thing I thought was a little strange though. I've seen the Aliens movie and I don't recall the BDU's (her clothes) being so tight. Chris M. Rubenstahl replies: "Thanks for your comments, Jay. I like to work a lot of little detail into my drawings, to try and make the subjects more realistic. As for the BDUs being too tight, this wasn't EXACTLY a Colonial Marine (as depicted in Aliens), but a representative 'Space Marine'. Still, I think you're right; they ARE too tight. I like drawing women in tight outfits...chalk it up to my terminal case of male-pattern testosterone poisoning. " | |
| 6 Nov 2008 | Mohammed Ali | Loading...You know what I want to see? A space marine type soldier clutching an MP-40 or setting up an MG-42. What happened to the days of World War 2, when all these bells and whistles guns didn’t exist?!!!
Anyway, I do think that you should have added some sweat to the face. Artists tend to miss that, but I does a great job of depicting tension or past action.
Also, the object in her right hand doesn’t look very clear. A bit of distinction might have made the picture better.
But I do love the shinguards! The muscles are also very carefully detailed. Great job overall!
| 16 Dec 2008 | Vraks | Loading...A very interesting drawing. I beleive the bast part is her face. One Q though: what is her left bicep? is it a bandage? Overall, a very good work of art | |
