A pen & ink drawing from highschool, which was on the open page of a sketchbook I posed with in my senior picture.

This is amazing. Did the wings take ages? I usually get bored and just do a couple of feathers!

:-) Danielle K. Long replies: "thank you! i think it's harder to get bored and gloss things over with pen, because i can't cheat with a pen! 2 (y'know, with pencil you can fade and fuzz things out; it's hard to do that as easily with ink) thanks for your comments!(more reply comments in separate post below -- i'm just learning!)"

Okay, I'm just learning the system, so I'll post my replies here for now. Thank you all so much for your kind comments!!

I did this a long time ago ~ It makes me remember what it was like to draw before I learned how to second-guess *everything*. So it reminds me of happier art times. 2

I think I did this one shortly after working on a duck stamp competition, so I'd been observing and drawing lots of wings!

It's so neat to read all the comments ~ I couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome to the forum. Thanks!

That's so majestic. Beautiful wings. . . And I love the expression on the creature's face! Usually there isn't much of an expression on animal faces, but this one is particularly nice.

:-) Danielle K. Long replies: "thank you very much! i was drawing lots of duck wings at the time -- maybe if i did another one lately the wings would look a bit more eagle-like. 12
and thanks about the expression comment."

That is great. like the wings, and the expression on it's face. I agree above, Majestic. That the word for it, I also like the way the feet are placed. good work.

Neato. With skill like this, you don't need to second-guess everything.

Very nice piece! I like the crispness of this drawing, and the very realistic proportioning.

Reminds me of the winged sphinxes. The wings are so beautiful, and his mane so luxurious.
