This is an illustration of a scene from C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Lucy, Peter, Susan, and Edmund are together in Narnia, where the White Witch has cast a spell to make it always winter and never Christmas. Having discovered that Lucy's friend was taken by the Witch, they follow a friendly robin to a secret destination through the woods. Can you tell which child is Edmund? ;)

*eyes sparkle* I love Narnia books! *misses them* Wow, I really love this piccy. Nicely drawn characters...and yep, there's ol pouty Edmund, hehe. Great work!

:-) Danielle K. Long replies: "Hee hee, sometimes I get paranoid about what the librarians must think when I spend an hour perusing the children's section. Children's and juvenile fiction are terrific for illustrating ~ it's easier to get all the details right (takes less time to read the whole work), and the authors usually seem to be more concerned with the beauty of their words (as opposed to the intrigue/plot-heavy adult books). Maybe that's just in the better kids' books. C.S. Lewis is one of the *best* authors as far as writing scenery goes ~ such vivid imagery! Like at the end of Voyage of the Dawn Treader. No wonder so many artists like to take a shot at Narnia illustrations!"

WHOA thats really really good! they look so real, and you captured the moment and the feeling in the pic. nice job

12 Danielle K. Long replies: "Thank you, Noman. Say, you're not the fellow who poked out the eye of the Cyclops, are you? ("Noman tricked me!") "

Oooooh, I don't think I've ever seen any Narnia art in the Woods! I just love the way you did the figures. They look a lot like the wonderful illustrations by Pauline Baynes! (Which are one of the major reasons why I loved the books so much). The German editions I read as a child really out me off because of the horrible pictures in there. 2

And it's absolutely clear which one is Edmund... even if I really need to read those books again! Thanks!

Yes, Edmund IS pouting a bit, isn't he? Just lovely, particularly the texture and colors! (Lewis's space trilogy IS good, but maybe you're right, maybe it's because it's not a children's book, it's a lot tougher read.)

Wow, I just love this picture! The trees are beautiful, and I like the robin! And Edmund’s sulky face expression is excellent!

Cool!

Edmund is the bad boy all by himself.
