He looked closer at the girl. She couldn't be called beautiful of pretty. Her huge eyes were set in a simian face and her curly hair stuck out from her head.
Her heart quailed at the thought of such a journey but determined to win his love she left her father's house, the only home she had ever known, and set out.
Her travels took her through many lands. She walked along unknown paths, swam unexplored lakes and flew over uncharted forrests untill she reached the ocean at the end of the world. It was in the endelss ocean that the sun plunged her fires into the waters at the end of the day and gave way to the night.
As the sun sank beneath the waves bubbles of light floated up to the surface. The girl took one of the bubbles in her arms but in doing so the light burned her eyes and made her blind.
When she returned from her travels he was repulsed by her appearance and refused to se her ever again. Full of sorrow she left the village forever. Now she dances with the will-o'-the-wisps and not all the light of the sun or moon can penetrate the gloom in her heart.
