| 27 Nov 2003 | Anon. | Loading...Can you help? i'm pulling my hair out over how to draw a nose. i just can't get it right, any suggestions? Saber Alexander Orion McConnell replies: "Wow, it's hard to describe how to draw a nose. I assume you mean the human kind. A lot of mistakes I see when people draw noses, is making them too straight and narrow on the bridge, then making skinny little round parts for the nostril. Try to make the nose bridge curve a little. If you look at a human face, the nose will actually continue up, meeting the eyebrow...rather that's how the contour of the face goes. That's another thing to remember; I always make the top of the nose connect up to the eyebrow...that's about all I can think of regarding noses." | |
| 27 Nov 2003 | Anon. | Loading...just thought i ought to tell you, your work reminds me of the characters off a show they used to play on cartoon network. It was called Thundercats, you ever see it? Saber Alexander Orion McConnell replies: "Absolutely! I use a lot of my furries in TCat RPGs. Pay a visit to my fanart gallery, and you'll find actual fan art there.)" | |
| 28 Nov 2003 | Anon. | Loading...thanks for your help on the nose... if i can make a decent shaped head it might look okay. I checked out your fan art. apparently not many people know what thundercats are. i wasn't sure if you'd check thier often. Saber Alexander Orion McConnell replies: "Head shape just takes practice. It's easy either to overdo the shape and make them look like they've got mumps, or to underdo it and make it look all flat hehe." | |

| 24 May 2004 | Eveofthewolves | Loading...Wow I like them that's cool. Saber Alexander Orion McConnell replies: "Thank you! It was fun to draw, but the grass took forever. I have no patience for detail and backgrounds." | |
| 10 Dec 2004 | Nathan | Loading...Nice work. Could they be running from a Cape buffalo perhaps? They'll attack both adult lions and cubs out of the blue sometimes. Saber Alexander Orion McConnell replies: "Very possible! I'd probably run too if a Cape Buffalo was after my tail end! (Er, not literally.) Could be a pack of hyenas. Hyenas and lions don't exactly make the best of friends, after all." | |
| 27 Jan 2005 | Madster | Loading...Why does one have a bigger mane is the other one just a female or just younger? Saber Alexander Orion McConnell replies: "He is indeed older. The little one's still got spots. Lion spots fade as they get older. Probably a feral cub the same developmental age as the older boy would still have spots, but he looked better without them so I left them off." | |
| 23 Feb 2006 | Ski | Loading...Cool. Looks like something bad happened. Might I ask you to draw just what they are running from? Usually when something is drawn "on the run" or looks frightened the artist has a good idea what frightened the character. Saber Alexander Orion McConnell replies: "I actually had no idea! The image just came to me, and I draw a lot of action and adventure stories with kids as main characters, so that kind of picture was just normal for me, I guess. In that setting, probably either an adult lion, or possibly a hyena or other enemy of lions." | |
