A piece meant to be of a series, along with the 'Dance of the Blades' picture here in my gallery, showing the various dances which play a heavy part in the culture and beliefs of Kana and his people. This particular dance is a tribute to the Immortal Dragon God, in which Kana uses his gifts and unique twin Katanas to create spiritual dragons from smoke and ash and fire sparks.

Oh, but I think I hate this picture. As a concept sketch it looked like it could be soemthing special, and the visualisation I had was a lot to live up to. Sadly, it all went a bit pearshaped, and I gave it up, which is why the dragons look a little unfinished. I think the media just disagreed with me this time, and there are fundamental flaws in the anatomy, namely that you can't really get your body into that position. Some argue that the main point is that it doesn't detract from the flow of the image, but I dont buy that. My drawings have to be placed in real physics and the anatomy has to be proportioned and believable. Being an artist can be so frustrating sometimes. Still, you live and learn...

I do see how it looks a bit unfinished, especially as far as the dragons are conerned, but the main sword-wielding figure is excellent. The colors are rich, her whole body is so expressive and dynamic... No complaints there. I really like this one, even if you aren't so crazy about it. 2

Oh I'm sure someone can get their body into that position, it just takes flexibility 2
As for the rest, well this really is a great concept. I understand what you mean by a pic not quite meeting your expectations, especially when working with pencils, but this is still nice. The movement DOES work well, physics be damned 12 Cool design on the outfit, and keeping it under control throughout the ripples in the cloth. Rather dreamy. ~Kay

I LOVE IT!!! AI! OMG!
I'm a big fan of Ang Lee's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," (good movie. You need to see it) and this made me think of it. I'm just slightly obsessed with the whole asian martial artist and dragon thing (although manga is not included there).
I LOVE IT!
