SciFi and Fantasy Art Shadow Weaving by Sam ´Zephyri´ Hogg

A portrait of Arithon, calling his inborn gift of shadows. This is a sort of a colour rough for a proper oil painting, once I sort the pose out and figure how to make the shadow look more like a falling mist. His sword, Alithiel, is silver in the books by Janny Wurts, but I was just trying my hand at painting gold. I'm not ecstatic about this piece, but the finished painting should be better. Hey, it's Arithon *shrug*. Oh yeah, and in the finished piece, his eyes will be open, so you can see the piercing green gaze in all its glory. If his hand looks a bit funny, it's because I painted it over about five times. I hate hands. They are the bane of my artistic life. Pencil sketch then acrylic on acrylic textured paper.

Oh but I love Arithon....sadly however a different weaver of shadows has claimed my heart. (different books) Well done and I hope to see a version with his eyes in it one day. he wouldn't be arithon without them.

27 Dec 2007	Angela R. Sasser	Loading... oo yet another jewel of yours I've dusted off. I love this concept for Arithon even if he has an itty hand. The way his hair blends into the shadows and the contrast of the sunset is rather nifty. Did you ever finish this one? I'd be curious to see it.
