"Thowra and Storm had drawn apart from the other young colts, watching fearfully while the two stallions struggled for mastery. There would be no mercy given by either,and, as the night drew on, they knew darkness would not part them." Extract from 'The Silver Brumby' by Elyne Mitchell

This fight was inevitable. The mighty chestnut stallion, Yarraman, has fought The Brolga before when he was an impertinent young colt. But now The Brolga is back again, no immature young horse but a magnificent stallion in his prime. Now, with the sun sinking behind the valley, Thowra and Storm, half brothers and life long friends, watch Yarraman their father fight to the death. Little does Thowra know that he is watching his future nemesis...but will he succeed where his father cannot?

(I must say a huge thank you to Natty my siiter for the sky...it is one of our photos but my skill with photoshop needs a lot of practice and she helped me make it work!)

I love The Silver Brumby!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve only ever seen the cartoon TV series, but still, it was my favourite programme when I was younger (and I still love it). This is great artwork, especially the sky it’s magnificent! 1

:-) Sam Adams replies: "I think i watched the cartoon when i was younger but i don’t remember very well. I just re read the book and had to draw form it, so this is another Brumby pic in my gallery...great excuse for me to draw horses1! Thanks sooo much for the compliment, the sky is actually a photo my sister took!"

storm looks so kl. the sky is an awesome photo and beautiful colouring yet the story is so sad

ah, i can’t believe that i haven’t seen Silver Brumby artwork on here before, i’ve read the books-albiet a long time ago, the first book was always my favourite, esp the last chapter when Thowra outsmarts the horse catcher by jumping over the cliff to his apparent death, to disapear like a ghost...every time i’ve read it, it gives me a shiver.
