Well, here's another shot at this picture. It got rejected a while ago because of scanner quality issues (and the Mods were right, the scan completely sucked. Actually, I suck at scanning is the real problem) and so I'm re-uploading it. Hope it goes better this time. I got some good advice about how to improve the scan, and I think it helped. Either that or my subconcious is pretending that it did, because it's sick of bad scans. I deleted the old version a bit too quickly, so I can't compare.

So again, assuming this is accepted, this is Rowan. He appeared while I was watching a particularly nice sunset. I just started forming a character out of those colors, and he's what I got. Tragic character, of course, he's about to die here, after a long hard life of fighting a losing war. Never bothered with damsels in distress and such romantic nonsense, he had only two loves in his life; king and country. He was desparately loyal to a crumbling monarchy, and probably held the kingdom together longer than it would have lasted without him, though it was all futile in the end. Kind of goes with being inspired by a sunset, being the last glimmer of light before the long night sets in. Sir Rowan of the Setting Sun... actually, that works as a name... The sunset behind him... well, I tried. I did my best, I even got up at five in the morning, during summer vacation, just to catch the sunrise so I could copy it... but nature wouldn't cooperate and give me decent clouds, and when I drew this off the sunset later that day, I was impatient and didn't wait until the colors were right. I suppose I could have used a photo of something, but it NEEDED to be from real life. The clouds at the top of the page kind of work, but the purplish smuge near the horizon is a crime against art. Sorry. Just don't look at that part. The smoke is supposed to give it a warlike-feel, so that you know all is not quiet on the western front. Justignore my random references... Colored pencil. I DO like his tunic, the wrinkles are actually almost halfway decent.

gah, I love this pic but his story's so sad... he needs a hug before he dies at least. I'm sure plenty of people (myself included) would be more than happy to hug him, or even a brotherly hug from the king he's served so well.

You seem to be getting lots of comments about Gryffindor... gold is the best colour for lions, red goes with gold, live with it people.

It also looks like lots of people are commenting on this guy's name. My brother's name is Rowan. No comment.

I thought the exact same thing as Tee when I forst looked at this. That's exactly how I've always imagined Eragon. I know it's not actually Eragon, so I will marvel at the beauty of your colored pencil skills!

wow...great picture! This is great. The face reminds me alot of Eragon from Christopher Paolini's novel. Keep up the good work! 2

What a hancsome knight... if he's still looking for a princes he may ask me (-; hihi... I wish I had such a boyfriend. I think he's very brave, because he's so young. I hope he wins the war and after he may marry me! hihi.

...Doni and Anna said it for me. Peter! It's mostly the lion that made me go 'PETER!'
...So, yeah. It's Peter, in my eyes. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Now to go look for more pictures to drool over...

Omigosh, I’m not the only one who is reminded of High King Peter! The perspective is excellent! You are one of my favorite artists here in the wood!
