Just your typical human and elf couple, a popular theme 'round here. I'm gonna get crap for this, I just know it. But that's okay, because not only am I really happy with this picture, but I've been itching for a fight anyways. I did it for Kirsten, it's some pairing of characters I've never heard of from a book I never read; she just told me one was an elf with short blond hair and the other a human with long brown hair. The knight's hand--er, that wasn't really on purpose, I was aiming for the elf's hip but I started the arm from the shoulder instead of the hand and ended up missing and was too lazy to redraw the sucker. Kirsten likes it better this way anyway...

Things I like: most everything! The knight's posture especially, his spin curves just the way I wanted it to. I also like his hair, both all the lines in it and rthe shape of it as it falls over the back of his armor. And his armor! Wow, the first armor I've ever drawn that i was reallt happy with! Armor is a pain to find good reference for beause all my history books show people wearing chainmail. I also like how the bit of crosshatching looks on it, giving it a slightly scuffed shiny look, like the bell on a saber after it's been used for years. Not tah most people probably know what that looks like, but neverhteless... The elf doesn't please me quite as much, but I like his hair too, and his hands are lovely. Both their poses seem real to me, like the characters moves into that position rather than were set up. In a good pose, the people look like they could move, and these two do.

Things I hate: ther are always some. The elf's feet are a tetch too far back, making him look like he's leaning a bit more than I intended. The pen bled a bit on the elf's eye, too, though I fixed it in the scan so you lot can't see it. The knight's fingernails are too small. And the biggest flaw--that sword is all wonky and crooked. I penned in the wrapping on it separately, without doing a solid outline first, and thus lost the shape of the thing. And only so much can be done once you use pen.

This is a really good picture! You don't see enough of these out there. I really don't think that there's very many problems with your picture and the things that you said were bad on it I didn't even notice them until I read that. Do you think that you could post somewhere what the name of that book is? I think it looks good.

I just loooove guys with long hair. It’s just, they never know how to take care of it. They never wash it, and the hair always falls in lank, greasy, gross chunks. -sigh- But I do like the knight. His armor is interesting, and that little strand of hair is separated from the rest of his hair. The elf looks alright, but he’s not on par with the knight. I don’t really like his clothes, but I suppose that’s normal elfin attire. I think the sword is fine, I wouldn’t have noticed it. Maybe. Probably. =]

You know, I can’t imagine that armor would be very comfortable to cuddle up to. But then, if y’gotta kiss the guy, y’gotta kiss him. Sometimes you just havta make do. =p I love that the elf isn’t the standard long-haired, androgynous fey that’s so common. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with that style, per say, it’s just that it’s so prevalent that you never see anything different.

I am giving you an imaginary hug right now. What’s the name of the book?
