"Drunk Guy Passed out on a Couch" by Christina Joy Sanders

Originally, this was just going to be Sirius looking all pretty lying on some random sofa. But then his hand was just laying there, and I wanted to put something in it. At first I was thinking a book, but then it ended up a bottle, and the whole meaning of the picture changed. This scene isn't actually IN book 5, but it's rather hinted at when Harry went to Grimmauld place right after his Mr. Weasley/snake dream-thing, and Sirius had 'a whiff of stale drink about him.' I just got this image of him sitting all alone in that awful house, with no company but Kreacher and his mother's portrait, chugging away at a bottle of Firewhiskey and trying to get drunk enough so that all the miserable things that have happened to him would stop haunting him for a few hours. I'm not quite sure whether he's actually passed out here, or asleep, or trying to sleep and having no luck. I'm leaning towards that last one, because something about his face and the way his arm is flung to the ground looks like a 'this isn't helping' sort of pose. *sniffles* poor, poor Padfoot...

as an interesting side-note, Kirsten, who isn't even infatuated with Sirius like I am, was trying very, very hard to get me to draw him without pants. She said it was because then Mrs. Weasley (who we now refer to as The Shrew, for reasons I think are apparent in chapter five of OotP) could come in and yell at him for setting such a bad example for the children. Because being totally plastered isn't bad enough, I guess. I declined; Sirius was supposed to be elegantly tragic, not boorishly pathetic.

Oh, and you can't really see it on the scan, but the bottles all say 'Olgen's (is that how you spell it? I was too lazy to look it up) Firewhiskey; drown your sorrows!'
