The first line came to me while I was walking home from school on the most beautiful campus in the world...

I want to walk the wide, wide halls of worlds no one has wandered;
The dragons say that spirit calls to art, and I have pondered
The feel of them in me, windfalls of meaning on my way.

I want to learn the vast, vast tomes of all that's for the knowing,
Of all the Londons, all the Romes, the codices still growing;
To grow in time with them, and have an answer I can say.

I want to pile my knowing on the hoard of worlds' live treasures,
The jeweled arts, the trembling dawn of silver lore, and measures
Of woven nature carrying on to awe another day.

I think this one's my favorite poem of yours.

Sometimes it is best to write when one is struck by inspiration like you obviously were at Rice. I love that feeling of poetry bursting out of you... so exhilarating. If only I had such a command of the English language as you do... that this all just flowed so well in such a short time is amazing. This describes so well that irrepressible thrst we get for knowledge... something that most people our age can identify with, which makes it easier to actually understand this poem. The wisdom and beauty of the world seems so limitless... it can be an amazing thing. It seems to intimidate me a bit more than it does you though.. I certainly wish you all the luck in achieving these high goals you set for yourself in this poem. Sorry for the long rambling... can't wait to read more! T

Absolutely lovely! ambition is quite a fitting title. It has that feel of the desire to do things that one knows they will never be able to surmount. I like it!

We have a similar way of writing poetry, and it's intresting! I really like this one, and not knowing how you usually write mine always comes with flashes of inspiration there is no other way for me. This one gives me a sense of freedom, but also the yearning to know and explore which comes with the choice of what you use your freedom for!
Great writing!
