wondering through the night
I hear a mournful call
The voice is not quite human
and my flesh begins to crawl
The sound is getting closer,
howling in my ears
The night is closing in
heightening all my fears
I’m frozen to the spot
too afraid to run
I can feel it moving in
it seems the beast has won
Red eyes watch me from a distance
just beyond the trees
My entire body shivers
fear brings me to my knees
As I raise my head up slowly
and see the beast at last
all that's left to do
is pray that it goes fast
