This is a poem a cautious warning against making an enemy of the common fairy. REVISED UPDATE - I was getting annoyed with a couple of off-beat parts of the poem so I've had another go... tell me what you think and I'll see if its any better! =) thank you

A-foul of a fairy

Be careful never to walk upon,

The fairy swamp full of fairy song -

young one.

The fairy kind,

Plays tricks on the mind,

Deceit entwined - with magic,

They’ll pull and push

you into the slush,

Which makes the merciless bog…

And there you’ll drown,

We’ll not hear a sound,

over that fairy magic a’wound.

Be warned then never to cross the path,

Of a wandering, bored old fey,

For it is they,

who shall commit the fey’s worst crime,

It’ll curse you,

                then watch you,

struggling in its monster’s pit.

       To watch you suffer,

               steal your lover,

while the mind does lose its wit.

Be warned then, for surely ‘tis worse,

If you ran a-foul of a fairy.

Its really cute. just a few things to think about (uh-oh) firstly, try to have a consistant rhyme pattern. (or none at all) second, try to have a consistant meter. BESIDES that... it really was good. I'm just being over-analytical so you don't have to change anything for me. 1 I don't think i've seen anything about evil fairies (meaning that its good)... lol... 1 (ok so they weren't evil but they did sound it)...

2 Sarah Johanesen replies: "Thank you, both of you, its good to get comments, and analytical critisim is great! I've heard about meters before but let me test my understanding, that's a rythmn pattern right? I have read poets for school before who severly lack rythmn and rhyme and I always felt a bit dissapointed so I always aim (aim being the opperative word) to have some form of both aspects. "

Meter is kind of a rythm a poem takes. It has more to do w/ syllables than rhymes but rhymes can add to or subtract from the overall meter.

Or at least my understanding of it but i could always be wrong... yup i think you had it right but i misunderstood so you got my explaination of one. I really do like this poem.

2 Sarah Johanesen replies: "Thanks it's better to ask and know than think you know hey? I should really listen to my own advice sometime. =)"

I have only written two poems in my entire life and I have one of those posted here, now. I really envy those of you who do it so well. Guess I'll just stick to novels. *LOL*

2 Sarah Johanesen replies: "I wouldn't say I was that good at it, just have a serious case of verbal diorreah - and I can't spell."

Oh my God, I always liked the sweet little fairies. Well now I'm wondering. Maybe I should keep away from them *g*
