Another poem. I've always found Amethysts particularly enchanting, I don't know why, they're spellbinding.

Amethyst

Shining Amethyst,

Shining bright,

I’m hypnotised by the light,

Which you catch

to throw back,

Into my awed eyes.

Your mystery magic

Trapped inside

The crystal like

The creeping tide.

Shining Amethyst

Shining bright,

Into my eyes,

With its purple light.

Ooh amethysties! Amethysts are among my favorite semi-precious stones. I love all the members of the quartz family, but amethyst's purple is irresistable. I once wrote a poem about an underground chasm filled with sentient quartz-family crystals...and when the school literary magazine published it they changed "rutilated quartz" to "MUTILATED quartz"! *strangles editors*

I like to go to the local rock shop and peer into the shimmering depths of this huge amethyst rock way bigger than a human head, that's had the rough outer rock cut away so you can see the amethysts inside. And then I like to hold the large highly polished pure amethyst points in my hand and feel the buzz...yeah, yeah, New Agey crap but there is a resonance there. But of course my love of amethyst is surpassed only by the alpha and omega of all crystals, clear quartz. I've gotten a lot of inspiration from the mineral world. I wrote this long prose thing, not quite a story, that has a huge hill-sized geode with huge crystals inside the "cave"....it starts with the sentence, "A cliff of polished amethyst radiated glowing purple rays out into the harbor."
You should do a series, with a poem about clear quartz, citrine, rose quartz, rutilated quartz, and smoky quartz.

2 Sarah Johanesen replies: "  Thank you for sharing your gut reaction, I wouldn't have the guts to... didn't think I could make people cry."
