2004-12-25: I sometimes, when I’ve got time and inspiration, decorate parcels before I give them away. Sometimes I do ordinary pictures, sometimes mere patterns; sometimes, like this time, I end up somewhere in between. I started with the griffin-like thingy in the upper right corner, and then went counter-clockwise, finding things up as I went along. I think I was most pleased with the birds. First, I’d planned to colour it in different colours, but I fell in love with the blue (French ultramarine and Payne’s grey) and kept it throughout. The paper’s made for parcels, and definitely not for watercolour – even slightly water-resistant, it was something of a challenge, and the colour isn’t as smooth as I may have wished. On the other hand, it was an interesting experiment. Oh, and the word is simply “Congratulatons”.

Original: watercolour on pencil under-drawing on brown paper, 21*30 cm.

Woah... *Amazed* That's some wicked parceling-skills! Poor fella who got that one though... Must have been hard to open it.

:-) Sara M Osth replies: "*grins* It was my mother who got it: I'd carefully not put any tape on it. This is actually scanned post opening; hence the not-so-very-smooth surface."

WOW! Truly nice! Do you do that with every package you give? Hard work. =D Maybe you should frame it end put it up the wall? It´s really nice, so I think you should!

:-) Sara M Osth replies: "*grins* That's a decision for my mother, see? But no, I don't do that on all parcels... *shivers*"

Wow, whoever got that was very lucky. I like the griffin in the top left corner. He's cool.

:-) Sara M Osth replies: "Like I said in your gallery, I like birds. Strange birds I like even better. Thank you for commenting!"

Now that is just plain cruel! How ever is one supposed to throw that away, like a normal card? Still haven't managed to toss out the one you made for me with the belladonna on it. *mutter*

Again inspired. But then I am partial to medieval inspired art. A lovely use of monochrome. And even more impressive as it is freehand. I wish someone would send me parcels like that, it's usually me sending them, 1

Gör flera!

Another great page! I may just have to come to you for layout ideas.

:-) Sara M Osth replies: "Feel free to use ideas, and please show me the results. I'll most likely come back to your page for ideas on shading and detail!"

Wow, this looks beautiful! You really captured the feel of medieval illumination here...and the style reminds me slightly of the way Mr Tolkien used to draw...2
