Sara do update every now and then.

Welcome to my hidden corner, off the main roads of Elfwood!

I'm a 24-year-old Swede, currently living in Umeå in Northern Sweden, where I study to become a forester. This is my last semester, and after some 18 years of various kinds of studies I'm rather relieved to have a job. I will move to Edsbyn, central Sweden, in May.

My pictures are often inspired by my stories (now long gone and never finished) and the MUD I play in, on Syskonskapet, a Swedish site; both my own character(s) and character portraits I've made upon request, or for my own enjoyment, or both. Studying takes up most of my time, but somehow I ended up illustrating a Swedish roleplay (Höstdimma) - or at least trying to. If anything of it will turn out to be high fantasy, you might see it here. Due to work and LARPing - with all the sewing that goes with it - the updates are sparce right now. However, I try to look here every now and then and all comments are read and appreciated! Construcive critisism most welcome :).

Some people well worth visiting;
Fanny Another one from Syskonskapet. Her imagination is scary, and some of it comes out in her drawings.
Elin Fellow LARPer and co-player on Syskonskapet. She knows how to make a face expressive.
Sarah Yet another from Syskonskapet, who is great at drawing horses. As well as she's from the same tiny town in Sweden as I am.
Linda She has a style completely different from mine, but oh, how well she does it! She's also the Godess of coloured pencils. Go look! Now.

March 2008: DeviantART gallery updated with the last Höstdimma pictures.  That means that once moving and work is settled, I am up to commissions again.

Interests
drawing, larping, writing
Favorite Fantasy/Scifi Movies and TV Shows
I've recently discovered Serenity/Firefly. Apart from that I watch SciFi/Fantasy movies and TVshows just to have something to do while sewing or adding the final touches to a drawing.
Favorite Fantasy/Scifi Books
The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe, more or less anything by Neil Gaiman. And Tolkien's always a favourite.
Favorite Music
Folk music, anything from Baroque and backwards. And the odd tunes I stumble over.

Once more Sara, I have to say:-
a)that I do like your new material
b)sorry for not contacting you in so long.

:-) Sara Matsdotter Östh replies: "*smiles* Thank you. There should be more coming, I'm in the process of updating right now. And don't worry, there's no need. "

Well Sara, I especially love your creative designs of birds, they all have their elegance and seem to have a symbolic background, or something like a story behind them. But that's just me, I happen to love birds (but also just animals in general, the world is quite fascinating to me). Anyway, really lovely work. Probably I'll come back here again! 2

:-) Sara Matsdotter Östh replies: "Birds are a nice subject to work with - you can twist the form so much, and still keep the essentials. They always seem to end up somewhere in my patterns. You are more than welcome to come back!"

I came to your pictures and this place on internet
through a comment on webblogg in "vennegoors" blogg,
leading to "stillme" bloggi (Fanny) where a comment and
one of your drawings was publiziced 18th of May.

How come you are doing an education to become
a forester, when you are so good at drawing?

or is it like me and my music - drawing is a hobby,
working with would take away the joy?

I like your pictures very much!
Keep up the good work 2

cu!

:-) Sara Matsdotter Östh replies: "Now, isn't internet a wonderful thing? I really like to be told how people found their way here, it's always equally fascinating.
And as for my education, I think you're about right: it would take away the fun, for a start, and I don't have the ambitions and talent to make it my living. Besides, this way I can draw whatever I like. But I always appreciate when people like what I'm doing. Thanks again!"

Well hello! I just found some time to sit down and take it easy, so I thought I would stop by and look at your paintings. And I have one word for you, wow! They are fantastic! Absolutely fantastic!

:-) Sara Matsdotter Östh replies: "Thank you very much! I'll be back in your gallery every now and then, in order not to miss updates!"

My apologies for the late visit. Times are rough. With that aside though I wanted to pop by and see what sorts of work you have.

I'm very fond of the water color work, you have a firm control of design and flow - although anatomy in some places gets dodgy. I don't have any set one critique for you any more than just the standard "keep hitting it". I know it's cliche but it's true - the more you keep practicing the more you will refine what you already know. Keep up the good work, I really like what you have 2.

I have stopped by here many times, but I don't think I have ever put a comment here... Hmmm... Well, I really like your style anyway, and I really look forward to see more of your pictures, keep up the good work!

Well?

22 Sara Matsdotter Östh replies: "What? Didn't I tell you? Well, my version of our beloved dandy wasn't considered fantasy. Hence, he was more or less the reason why I now have a gallery at much less userfriendly deviantART. Link in my bio!"

How wonderful, not just a photo of you but a lovely selection of your art work. How do you manage to do everything, and all of it so well...Christine

Just passing by. I was in the neighbourhood, so...
Well, I am in here in a regular basis, but that's not the point... *pulls himself together* Ahem.

I enjoy looking at what you produce and always look forward to what comes up next. Keep it up, Sara.

Woho. I actually pulled myself together and wrote a comment!

25 Sara Matsdotter Östh replies: "Thanks. Cookie for you, as always."
8 Feb 200845 Cinaed
Viewing these pictures really brought back memories from older days when i played Cinaed on syskonskapet. Good old memories. Almost so i wish to go back to play again, but other duties calls.

Hope you update more pictures since you seem to have the "gene" for drawing, which i hope will not be wasted. 2

:-) Sara Matsdotter Östh replies: "Oh, a ghost from the old days. Glad to see you’re still around. I have to admit I play a lot less frequently at Syskonskapet nowadays, too. This "having a life"-business is really a bad thing. Shev’s married by now. I wish I could say she holds Cinaed in fond memory, but alas... *grins*"
