"New Watercolour mermaid" by Anna *Snotra* Sarwe

I wanted to see how i have developed with my watercolous over the last year-and-a-half, so I remade an old picture, the Watercolour mermaid (also in my gallery). I also wanted to give myself a challenge: using only five paints in a picture and mixing the rest. So i picked out my best mixing colours (Alizarin Crimson, Intense blue, Lemon Yellow, Burnt umber and Paynes gray, all from W&N Cotman line) and started mixing. In my eyes this one turned out much better than the last one, but maybe it got a bit pale. However, it was fun to use fewer paints, because you can get so much more interesting shades when mixing than when using colours right out of the pan.
