Seleth, Canis-Magi healer, launches herself from a snowy ledge into the air. Seleth is Kitty's character, and thus ©opyright to her. This is part of an art trade, but also meant as a Christmas gift. =^_^= You can find more about Canis here if you'd like.

I love Seleth to death, as in my mind she's comparable to Redwood, but I'm afraid I didn't get to truly do her justice. This is my second time drawing feathered wings (ugh, I hate them), and of course, I stared off a pic to try and get them right this time. I also took the pose from a wolf picture, simply because I can't draw a wolf that looks like a wolf on my own. ~_^ So the pieces are composite, the drawing wholely my own, and... grr. Her hind legs/paws annoy me. And NO she has no shadow. Get over it. ;) The only other thing... her feathers darken near the tips, it's really not my bad judgment in shading. *G* Comments welcome!

Just a couple things (Oh boy!)...

Its head is too small for a wolf in comparison with the rest of its body. .... in fact I don't even know how to explain how to fix this, but it is.... let's see. What can I equate this to. Ugh... it's 3180 in the morning. I really can't think. It's just too small. x_X Forgive me for not being able to back this up with how to fix it. =/

Secondly its forepaws are.... somewhat small. I think you can get away with leaving them like this, but wolves have notoriously large paws that act like snowshoes in winter. Not as big as lynx feet, but still bigger than the average dog paws.

Lastly................ I think this is both angle and the 3180AM factor talking. >.> The way you have the wings.... attached to the body..... are passable. Aheh. Clear as mud. x_X Forgive me again. The wing muscles in birds have the same amount of joints as human arms: 3 main bendy ones. Wow. Real articulate Quel. x_X Anyway, from the shoulder part of the wing muscle, it goes into the bicep of the wing muscle, and then hits the elbow joint, which goes into the lower arm muscle, and down into the wrist and wing finger (or fingers, in the case of bats and dragons). You only have two here.

It's been of some debate on where the wing muscle actually connects to the body, but most seem to agree it attaches to the back and has a lot to do with the chest muscles, rather than the shoulderblades or behind the arms. Again, check out Ahkahna's work to see what the heck I'm talking about. Aheh.

Now for my actual POINT on those wings. Gawd. I'm lengthy when I'm tired. x_X The width is just about right, on how they'd attach to the body, and like I said, this could just be angle, but the primaries don't look like they extend far enough. Bird wings have wicked large primary feathers that extend at least one more width outward. One more width = the width of the wings from shoulder to ending point near the back leg there. They're REALLY big.

Arf. I gotta stop now. Ahehe. I think though, despite the fact that I can't frickin' stop talking, this is the best piccy I've seen you do. ^_^ Keep it up. 1

:-) Sasha 'Sushi' Kansons replies: "HOLY FONT! *dies under the comment* You're trying to kill me ain'tcha? *laughs* Ohhh boy. You're right about the head... I just now noticed. (I tend not to notice much unless someone else points it out. Blehk.) Dernit. It's 3h30 AM? You're crazy! ^_^ But I appreciate yer comments nonetheless. *pokes Seleth's paws* Again... yer right. Do Canis have big paws? I can't remember. I think they do though. Dahh. As for the wing joints... I am NOT original when I do birdywings. I stared off a picture of a... what was it... bald eagle, I think... and copied the wings as exactly as I could. I'm lame, I know. *pokes da feathers* I think... I think yer half-right. I know the wings are angled, but the primaries could use another half-length, I bet, to make 'em look good. My only excuse... is... err... I ran out of paper. >,"

Well, if you exclude all points of correction Quel noted, I think that she is BLOODY GORGEOUS! You's getting really good there, Sush! I'd give her a bit more lines along the neck and body to represent the blowing fur, though. Either way, the shading/coloring is very nice, and her expression captures the thrill. Kudos!

:-) Sasha 'Sushi' Kansons replies: "Mmm. There's that concept of flowy stuff again. XD! T'anka for the compliment. I needed it after Quel ripped me apart. *jokes* Sanku for the comment!"

I can't complain, Sush. I can't even DRAW feathered wings, so this is absolutely beautiful. You'll notice that I have made camp in the woods. And have excessive amounts of school that have beat my RPing to a pulp. BUT I'm currently hard at work on pictures of a Koratian nature. Please drop me a link, my good amiga, or an IM. Wuvs and shnugs,
Erika the New and Not so good Artist

:-) Sasha 'Sushi' Kansons replies: "Feathered wings are a pain in the... feather. ~_^ I much prefer draconic ones. XD! Anyways, fwahahaha, yer now a Woodsian! XD! Issabout time. Mmm. T'anka for the comment mri'fao!"

I don't know if this was intentional or not...oh, of COURSE it was!...but the wings seem translucent, like some birds have. (Ever seen a Red-Shouldered Hawk against a bright sky? They've got "windows") Anyhow, I could niggle over tiny little points, but on first and second sight, it's great!

3 Sasha 'Sushi' Kansons replies: "Actually... it was purely unintentional. ^_^;; Chock it up to luck. XD! As long as it looks good... ~_^ Sanku for the comment! 2"

Very good work on the wings, I admire the effort you put into this. Keep up the good work. *G*
