I cannot pass you by again without commenting on this stuff. Chris, these are absolutely amazing. I have been a member of the SCA for 10 years, so I've seen a lot of armor. I wonder if perhaps I've seen someone wearing one of your designs. I too design clothing, but mine is of the more soft persuasion (a.k.a. fabric). These are incredible. You have my fondest regards. ~Anne of Amberwoods <-- to those in the SCA

:-) Chris Harveaux replies: "Thanks. I have made many items for SCA people so it is possible.Any pics of your clothing? I have made a few outfits but armoring takes up the majority of my time."

How do you do it? Is it the old fashioned way of heating the steal so it will bend easier, or do you use some other tools to bend the steel? Just curious, anyway your work is superb.

:-) Chris Harveaux replies: "Thank you. I use some heat but mostly work the metal cold. I use hammers to form everything. No presses or anything like that. Here are some pictures of my shop if you are interested:http://www.oaksarmoury.com/new.html"

Hi
I love armor and weapons.
How much would you charge for a full body armor suit for about a 12 year old and his 13 hand pony?

:-) Chris Harveaux replies: "I currently have a several year waiting list and haave decided to stop adding names to the list, until I can get the wait time down to a few months instead of years."

I am so happy that the random button led me into your gallary! I didn't know that there was anything like your work on Elfwood, and I had a wonderful time looking at it.

:-) Chris Harveaux replies: "Thank you!"

Ive been doing a small amount of personal chainmaille work and thinking about incorporating some plate designs into the chain, or vice versa. But the one question ive had, is how do you dull and soften the edges on the steel? In my experience the edges can be knife sharp at worst and pinch at best. Thank you, and i absolutely love the work. Especially the horse and dog armor =)

:-) Chris Harveaux replies: "I sand or file the edges so they aren't sharp or have burs on them. If you are using thin metal that will pose a hazard even with smoothed edges all you have to do is roll or fold the edges over. That can add a very nice look as well.Feel free to email me if you have other questions (that goes for anyone else interested as well)."

dude, you rule, *colapses of jealusy that I can't make iven a desent horse shoe*
gah! If i had ye talent I'd make my self a knights armour and walk the streets creeping people out!
haha, ;P

:-) Chris Harveaux replies: "Well, the first stuff I made was not good.I have had to put in a lot of practice and wasted a lot of metal to get to this point and I still have a very long way to go."

Your work is admirable! I no longer remember when first I was shown your homepage, but I suppose I should not be surprised to find you here on Elfwood - those are works of art, after all. The toy horse armour is a fun and impressive piece!
As a matter of fact, I am in the process of planning an anime harness to myself, though I doubt I will be able to make it in entirety by myself (my joints have some condition or another), and your page is great inspiration!
I look forward to see more of your work!

:-) Chris Harveaux replies: "Thank you. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about making the anime harness or anything."

Cool stuff. Do you do Medieval Fairs? You'd be good at it.

:-) Chris Harveaux replies: "I go to fairs for fun. I have thought about getting a booth at one but haven't yet."
