I took out the extra ’http’ in front, so hopefully they’re working now! Didn’t mean to tease you like that
I just don’t get on with these ’dumbed down’ forms that assume I don’t know html!
Happy Friday! J. E. Schroeder
replies: "It worked! Both lovely pieces, and certainly inspiring I adore the one with him reading with the hyarmi. Is the cub anyone in particular? And the wintery one has so much depth--you do snow scenes so well! The lighting is especially beautiful.
I’m about half-way finished with my interpretation (opted for a digital watercolor with my tablet and Corel program), and I am having much fun working with the Defender! Getting his skin tone just right is tricky, you know! But I loved doing his eyes. So gorgeous "

Hey, I just had to drop by and thank you for all the lovely ’Hope’s Passage’ feedback you’ve been leaving me lately! I do want to answer it, but I don’t know when. You were just a blessing on a really cruddy weekend, between my being sick and my pc getting sick too! (and now it won’t work at all, sigh, hence not knowing when I’ll get to your feedback. Can’t access FictionPress from work, and this place I can’t log into at work)
So thanks so much for being a bright spot in a frustrating string of days. Yes, the cub is Hileko Heruvael-son, I fear I have a slight addiction to pictures of young Hileko with ’uncle’ t’DoL!
Looking forward to seeing the finished work...someday...somehow... J. E. Schroeder
replies: "Update on the painting... Getting closer to being finished! Just having some trouble on the wings, but then I always have trouble with wings Hopefully in another week or so it’ll be ready for your viewing/appraisal!"

I am glad to finally find a person who actually seems to write with passion. And not just so they can reap the glory. You are probably the best poet I have read on Elfwood. I bow to you. And, if ever you sell your stuff, I will be a loyal fan forever. J. E. Schroeder
replies: "Thanks again for your enthusiasm and kindness! I appreciate your taking the time to read and comment on my work "

Just wanted to let you know that I’m doing a giveaway to celebrate my 35th birthday (old, right
and I wanted to make sure you had a chance to check it out.

Right up there, drop by if you have a chance, I’d love to send you a bookmark! J. E. Schroeder
replies: "Happy birthday, Joelle! And what a wonderful idea! The bookmarks look lovely I’ll have to send you my information so that I can share in the celebration! Thanks so much for including me--I’m happy to help you celebrate in such a giving and creative way "

I hope you had a lovely 4th and the summer is going well! How is Papaya doing with healing up? They never do want to take it as easy as they’re supposed to. =P
I’m glad you liked the feather charm on the bookmark--little details like that made it more fun for me, though it’s amazing how many different types there are to buy out there!
A bit hot over here, but at least I’m healthy and haven’t had any flooding ’fun’ since last Sunday.
There’s corn on the cob and fresh green beans at the downtown Farmer’s Market, which I’m just loving. And now it’s just about a month left before my big trip in August, so I’m getting quite excited about that.
Have a great weekend! J. E. Schroeder
replies: "Ah, I wish I had your farmer’s market--I love both of those veggies, particularly the home-grown variety! That’s one nice thing about hot summers--good garden treats to go along with them
Little Paya is recovering nicely; the incision is almost all healed! Thanks for asking I should send you a few pics of her--I remember you like puppy photos
And when/where is this trip again? It seems like you’ve told me, but I don’t recall for certain!"

Yes! I’ve been enjoying the little red new potatoes as well.
Glad to hear she’s getting better. You SHOULD send photos, nothing like some cuteness in the inbox! I’d love to see them together.
I’m flying to California on Aug 18 to visit family. then my mom and I are taking a road trip to Lassen Volcanic National Park, then Crater Lake National Park (which has been a dream destination of mine since I was pretty young) and then spending a few days on the Oregon coast before stopping at Redwoods National Park. I’ve seen Sequoias before, but not Redwoods, so I’m quite excited about this trip! J. E. Schroeder
replies: "Our palates must be closely tuned when it comes to veggies... I love those red potatoes, too!
I’ve sorted through my small mountain of dachshund photos and found my favorites... they’ll be cute-ifying your inbox soon!
What a wonderful trip you have planned! I’d love to visit any/all of those places I really need to make more time for traveling in my life... I’m glad you have this chance "

Congrats on the Mod, J!
And what a treat to find out you hadn’t forgotten about that long-ago comment milestone. It was a delightful surprise (and on the same morning as finding out my newest nephew has been born). I’m really looking forward to reading this today... J. E. Schroeder
replies: "Thanks! Always fun to get one of those stars
And nope, I hadn’t forgotten your piece! I actually started writing this shortly after your request, got stuck and put it on hold, lost the file when I damaged my laptop hard drive last year, and figured out the ending and rewrote it from scratch last month. Whew! But here it is now, and I hope you like it
New baby!!! Congratulations on the new member of the family--have you seen the little guy yet? "

I’ll see Samuel when I fly to CA in a couple weeks. Will probably be about the youngest I’ve seen any of them. Though unlike you, I find babies to be among the ugliest things on planet Earth. ;P
Mom is doing fine, and there’s a photo of him up here:
[/URL] J. E. Schroeder
replies: "Haha, but isn’t the puffy- and wrinkly-ness part of their charm? I’ll admit that they are much cuter once they’ve smoothed out a bit, but I still think they’re sweet when they’re tiny
And little Samuel actually seems to have avoided that scrunchy-faced look! He’s a pretty handsome baby already And it’s nice you get to visit him so soon! My brothers need to hurry up and have some kids (although my younger brothers swear they never will, haha)... I need nieces and nephews to fuss over "

Happy Summer, J! I just got back from a fabulous trip with my mom and a friend to Sequoia, King’s Canyon, and Yosemite National Parks. Nothing beats getting to be wowed by waterfalls and stargazing in Yosemite on one’s birthday!
Anyway, thinking of you, and hoping you’re enjoying your summer too, and that Mango and Papaya are well. Or is there a third ’fruit’ now?
Have a great July! J. E. Schroeder
replies: "I was just thinking of you also and thought I’d drop by Elfwood and leave you a message--seems you beat me to it!
That trip sounds like it was amazing! It’s such a wonderful thing that you’re able to travel and enjoy nature with family and friends
My summer has been pleasant if uneventful, and both pups are well! And there are still just two! I’d love to add a little Blueberry or Apricot to the family, but these two give me enough work (and love!) already, hehe
What’s on your plate for the rest of the summer? I’ll be working a lot more on indoor things (hopefully including more writing and finishing up a few special art projects!) now that the heat is turning up. All summer play and no work makes for a messy house and little else done, after all!
Anywho, I best be off again. Thanks for writing, Joelle! It’s always nice to hear from you "

Apricot, that would be an adorable name! Glad to hear you three are doing well. Hope those projects are coming along for you!
July has been brutal. It’s been indoor stuff for me as well, since some weekends are too hot to enjoy getting out for walking or kayaking. Got plenty of cleaning on my own end, as my mom is coming for a visit in latter August, gotta get my apartment up to mom-standards, right?
Just got a nice treat to end my unlovely month--one of the pictures I’ve been working on over the last two months I finally finished, and it got Mod’s Choice in my gallery! A nice reward after many hours of fighting with my pc over it, heh.
Hope you have a wonderful August!
