  | oil on wood 146cmx114cm or 57.48'x44.88' The mystic or magical initiation is a process that aims at the transformation of the human being ,this purification occurs by the way of the painful experience of life.The schools of mystery in antiquity provided through their adepts,a teaching that cleansed out the soul of material scorias and allowed it to cross the last dams of the different human egregores (religions) to mate,free at last,with the primal source ,the Divinity mother of millions of years. One of the key moments of this slow mental alchemy is called The crossing of the Abyss.The disciple who has freed himself from his ancient passions and terrors,from what his entire life has been made of, is going alone from now on in an unknow world where the new light that metamorphose all things does not yet shine,because this light is but a fragile spark deep in his heart.And the faint gleam of his Will,hardened during the long progression already accomplished,and leads the initiate to his zenith and his relief. This is ,to resume,the Idea which participates in the creation of this painting.The adept,perched on his mount is sombre,he's now looking at the void.Everything he did fight for all his life through,lies at his feets like the corpses which the vermin already is covering up.His master,non human,the ermit of the tarot is trying to move away the scavangers which are devouring his past.We are in the middle of a battle field,in the buttress,the city is erecting monstrous guardians on the domes of its temples.New masters are coming ,man is defeated but the adept is not:the aerian alert has been removed and moonflowers caravans are leaving the night obscurity to welcome the new golden Dawn on the horizon.
