Tears are so damn hard to draw convincingly... He weeps for his lost uncle, who was like a father to him. He weeps because he must now carry his uncle's blade, and honor it as his uncle did. Such is the burden of the samurai of the Lion Clan.

Samurai should not cry for the death of a great man...

Quiet, Luft. I think it's a wonderful, emotional pic. Again, little costuming detail(the lion circlet this time)has blown me away....

Gad, really sorry about that -- HIS feral looks... :-S Still incredible work.

Just the way that you add an almost feral beauty to the woman -- her eyes, nose and mouth all have... I don't know, feline looks? about them. Simply amazing. Wonderful work, all of it.

Great pic. The tears look OK; though they run from the inner corners of the eye, instead of the outer corners. Regarding his past, it must be an even greater burden for an Ikoma (I noticed the mon) to bring honor to the sword in battle, as opposed to writing down his uncle's glory (since most Ikomas are historians...).

What part of I'm jealous don't you understand?!

I have some, I hope constructive, criticizium on the tears. you made them the same shade as his skin, if you mad them a bit lighter and have a few white shines in the tear and the stream of the tear, it may get a more realistic effect. I think ^_^;;

oh and I have a question, it may be trivial but i'm curious. is the mane real hair or something like rice straw?

:-) Sean C. Riley replies: "*shrugs* I dunno. What's it look like to you? 2"

This is a beautiful picture. I agree, drawing tears is quite difficult. Again, I would like to say this is a great work of art. I have seen your other artworks and I must say, all of them are well done. Keep up the good work.

P.S. Perhaps you could make a picture of the lesser known Mantis Clan.

:-) Sean C. Riley replies: "See "Troublesome Trio" for a Mantis character. I'm afraid I don't have any individual Mantis characters scanned...I'll see about fixing that."

Wow! Not much to say except for "That's a true Lion." Fantastic picture!

*sigh* My life is complete. I have seen a real Lion portrait.
