Let me start by saying that I am a fan of neither Dragonlance nor kender. I don't hate either, but I don't particularly like them. So when I found myself in a Dragonlance game, I decided to really challenge myself, and play a kender the way I thought they should be played (as opposed to the way they're normally played, which I find immeasurably irritating). Thus, Patch was born. He's lived a hard life, and in kender terms, he's kind of a sourpuss. In human terms, this just means he's got a sharp tongue and a wicked sense of humor, but he's otherwise a pretty jovial guy. I really tried to make his appearance the typical blend of the pocket-laden kender garb, and marks of the scars he's endured (such as the patchwork outfit and the scar over his eye). In the end, I was pretty pleased with this one.

Very nice. I love his expression. Awfully mischevious, just like a kender should be. Since you say you're playing him like a kender ought to be played, I'm assuming you made him some sort of thief or something, like a rogue maybe. How is it that they're usually played which you find so irritating?

:-) Sean C. Riley replies: "Cutesy and silly, and using "but I'm a kender" as an excuse for any random action (not to mention th inevitable stealing from the party...grrrr), with no real personality or individuality to quality it as an actual character. Most kender players think its cute and funny, but it just come off as annoying."

I dont get it... Is that knife stuck in his hand??

:-) Sean C. Riley replies: "It kinda looks like it, doesn't it? It's difficult to see in the scanned image, but the rightmost knife is actually balancing on the tip of his pinky finger, which is curled upward."
