| 10 Jul 2002 | Rufus | Loading...Hmmm, anime influences, anime influences....GAAAAA!!!!! The coloring looks like prismacolor colored pencils (one of my favorite mediums to work with). I hate the feet. The one done in perspective looks entirely too small. Extend it a bit more. Steve Dismukes replies: "Anime? Nah, not really. And the prismacolour effect is entirely down to Photoshop - building up successive layers of colour gives a nice rich texture, sort of like oil-pastels. As for the feet... well, maybe so. I think actually adding more highlights might give a more accurate idea of the angle and perspective. But many thanks for the critique, anyway. ^_^" | |
| 10 Jul 2002 | Beshaba | Loading...All your Steampunk characters remind me of some of the characters you'd find in the RPG Deadlands. Really groovy Steve Dismukes replies: "I'm vaguely familiar with the game, and while it's not a direct influence it's sort of related because of the Victoriana and steampunk aspects, I reckon. Yeeha. ^_^" | |

| 11 Jul 2002 | Aries J. Krautwurst | Loading...I don't see the anime influence but I think that rufus is right that he should be taller. Or thinner. But I think that might give too much of a comical look. I confuse myself. Great job with the highlighting, and I want a hat just like his! Steve Dismukes replies: "The anime influence is possibly the disproportionate extremities, or possibly just the "feel" of the thing. I dunno." | |
| 11 Jul 2002 | Lex synaesthet@yah...com> | Loading...Ooh. And it's my favourite one, too. Does this mean that I have exceedingly good taste?..grins... Keep up the good work, mate. Steve Dismukes replies: "Impeccable taste, I'm sure. ^_^ Not that I'm biased or anything. ^_~" | |
| 8 Jan 2003 | | Loading...Tch... kids these days. Exaggerate a few features and suddenly someone's accusing you of anime influence Seriously, however... The overall design for this gent is wonderful. So dapper, and perfectly offset by the contraption on his back, his goggles, and that *neat* metal hand. One little addition that I'd like to see, however, is buttons on his jacket. It feels *odd* that he has no buttons on his jacket, especially with it a bit lopsided - with buttons one could see that he buttoned it up wrong, or sommat. Steve Dismukes replies: "As for proportioning... I like his exaggerated hands and feet, I've always like it when it's carried out well. I see no reason for him to be taller, shorter, wider, or thinner - he looks, aside from obvious exaggerations, to be built like an average man. I can't decide if the forward facing foot is too small, or something else, but something is a bit funny with that leg... it looks to me just a bit too long. Fortunately, it is not enough to detract from the picture.I think his right foot might be a touch long, thus throwing off the perspective somewhat. Hrm. " | |
